100TH WORLD MISSION SUNDAY 2026

Greetings and blessings, beloved family and Happy World Mission Sunday!

Sunday, October 18, 2026

Theme: “ONE IN CHRIST, UNITED IN MISSION”

“That they may all be one.” — John 17:21

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF WORLD MISSION SUNDAY (1926–2026)

This year, the Catholic Church celebrates the 100th World Mission Sunday, marking a century of prayer, solidarity, and support for the Church’s missionary work throughout the world.

World Mission Sunday reminds us that every baptized Catholic is called to participate in Christ’s mission of proclaiming the Gospel through faith, prayer, charity, service, and Christian witness.

For this historic centenary celebration, Pope Leo XIV has chosen the theme “One in Christ, United in Mission,” inspired by Jesus’ prayer for unity in John 17:21.

In his message, the Holy Father emphasizes three essential dimensions of our missionary calling:

1. Unity in Christ: Remaining rooted in Christ’s love, which unites us as one family of God.

2. United in Mission: Working together as members of the Church to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world.

3. Mission of Love: Sharing God’s faithful love through compassion, charity, service, and courageous Christian witness.

As we commemorate this special milestone, may we renew our commitment to supporting missionaries, praying for the spread of the Gospel, and bringing Christ’s love and hope to those most in need.

A PRAYER FOR WORLD MISSION SUNDAY

Heavenly Father, as we celebrate the 100th World Mission Sunday, unite us in Christ and renew our missionary spirit.

Bless Pope Leo XIV, our bishops, priests, religious, catechists, and missionaries throughout the world.

Strengthen those who proclaim the Gospel, especially in underserved communities.

May our lives become instruments of Your love, peace, compassion, and hope.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

POPE LEO XIV’S WORLD MISSION SUNDAY PRAYER 2026

“Holy Father, make us one in Christ, rooted in his love that unites and renews. May all members of the Church be united in mission, docile to the Holy Spirit, courageous in bearing witness to the Gospel, proclaiming and daily embodying your faithful love for all creatures.

Bless all missionary men and women, support them in their efforts, and watch over them in hope!

Mary, Queen of Missions, accompany our work of evangelization in every corner of the earth: make us instruments of peace, and grant that the whole world may recognize in Christ the light that saves. Amen.” 🙏🏽 — Pope Leo XIV
