Greetings and blessings, beloved family!
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.” Alleluia! Welcome to this beautiful Wednesday! Today, the Church pairs the powerful call of Scripture with the unyielding fidelity of Saint Landry, Saint Olivia of Palermo, and Blessed Bogumilus. Each of these holy witnesses refused to compromise with the world, anchoring their entire lives in God. Whether it was Saint Landry melting down church vessels to feed the starving, Saint Olivia bravely enduring pagan torture in Tunis, or Blessed Bogumilus walking away from high ecclesiastical honors to seek the peace of holy solitude, they proved what it means to choose the all-consuming truth of the Kingdom over worldly applause. In today’s Gospel (Matthew 5:17–19), Jesus reveals Himself as the ultimate fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. He warns us that true greatness in His Kingdom belongs to those who obey and teach God’s commands in their entirety, rather than picking and choosing what is convenient. This call to unyielding commitment is dramatized on Mount Carmel in the First Reading (1 Kings 18:20–39), where Elijah fiercely challenges Israel to stop straddling the fence between God and Baal. By rebuilding the Lord’s altar and trusting fully, Elijah commands a miraculous fire that consumes the sacrifice and reclaims his people’s hearts. Anchored in this same absolute trust, we sing in today’s Responsorial Psalm: “Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.”
Are you currently straddling the issue in your life, trying to divide your heart between God’s truth and worldly compromises? Do you have the courage to repair your personal altar and trust the Holy Spirit to consume your hidden idols today?

Today’s Bible Readings: Wednesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time | June 10, 2026
Reading I: 1 Kings 18:20–39
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 16:1B–2ab, 4, 5ab and 8, 11
Gospel: Matthew 5:17–19
Gospel Reading ~ Matthew 5:17–19
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.”
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”
SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS
In the Gospel, Christ reveals Himself as the ultimate, organic completion of God’s historic covenant, presenting The Perfect Continuity of Divine Law and the Architecture of True Greatness. Addressing any misconceptions that His kingdom represents a lawless rupture from the past, Jesus firmly declares that He did not come to destroy the law or the prophets, but to bring them to absolute, radiant completion. He asserts the absolute, eternal permanence of the divine decrees, stating that not the smallest scriptural mark not a single iota or serif will pass away until its cosmic purpose is entirely realized. Christ establishes a strict standard for authority and leadership within His Church: true spiritual stature is not measured by picking and choosing which commands to follow or modifying truth to fit culture. Rather, greatness in the Kingdom is strictly reserved for those who hold fast to the fullness of God’s statutes, matching their interior obedience with a bold, uncompromising commitment to teach those same commands to others.
The First Reading dramatizes this uncompromising obedience on a public, miraculous stage, manifesting The Collapse of Compromise and the Vindication of the All-Consuming Fire. Standing on the heights of Mount Carmel against a backsliding nation, the prophet Elijah fiercely challenges Israel to stop straddling the issue between true faith and pagan convenience. While four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal exhaust themselves in frenzied, bloody, and completely silent deception, Elijah confidently rebuilds the broken altar of the Lord, binding it to the twelve ancient tribes of Israel. Drenching the sacrifice in water to intentionally eliminate any possibility of human manipulation, he offers a simple, humble prayer for the reclamation of his people’s senses. The response from heaven is immediate and terrifying: the fire of the Lord crashes down, completely devouring the meat, the wood, the massive stones, the dust, and lapping up every drop of water in the trench, forcing a compromised nation to fall prostrate in absolute awe.
The Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 16) functions as our interior anchor amidst a culture prone to chasing modern idols, singing: “Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.” It stands as a sober reminder that those who court foreign gods or seek quick, worldly shortcuts only succeed in multiplying their own sorrows. By consciously setting the Lord ever before us and recognizing Him as our allotted portion and cup, our hearts find an unshakeable security. Walking in this complete covenant fidelity ensures that with God at our right hand, we will never be permanently disturbed, as He guides our footsteps along the path to life and into the fullness of joy in His presence.
As we navigate the subtle temptations and compromises of this day, let us evaluate if we are living fully for the Lord or straddling the fence. Reflect today: In what areas of your daily life are you still trying to straddle the issue, dividing your heart between the clear commands of God and the convenient compromises of modern culture? When the world around you courts empty idols and multiplies its own sorrows, do you have the courage to stand firmly on the side of truth, or are you quietly breaking the “least” of the commandments to blend in? Are you actively keeping your soul’s altar repaired, trusting that the Lord will answer your fidelity with the consuming fire of His presence?
Let us pray: Lord Jesus Christ, You are the perfect fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets, the unshakeable Truth that stands firm until heaven and earth pass away. Forgive us for the times we have tried to compromise with the world, straddling the fence between holy obedience and easy, popular convenience. Purge our hearts of all divided loyalties and consume our hidden idols with the fire of Your Holy Spirit. Grant us a dauntless faith to keep Your commandments fully, and the courage to teach Your truth to our households through our words and example. Repair the broken altars of our homes and keep us safely anchored in You as our only portion and cup. Guide our feet along Your paths this day, deliver us from every disturbing anxiety, and bring us into that fullness of joy that rests at Your right hand forever. You who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. 🙏🏽

SAINT LANDRY (SAINT LANDERICUS), BISHOP OF PARIS: Saint Landry (d. c. 661 A.D.) was the dedicated twenty-seventh Bishop of Paris, France, serving during the Merovingian reign of King Clovis II. Prior to his episcopacy, he served as a trusted referendary (chancellor) at the royal court, where he commissioned the famous collection of legal templates known as the Formulae. Guided by an extraordinary pastoral charity, Landry welcomed the Benedictine monks into his diocese, actively assisting Saint Bathilde in establishing the prominent Abbey of Saint-Denis and building the historical Parisian church of Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois. During a devastating famine in 651 A.D., his deep love for the poor compelled him to sell his personal belongings and even melted down precious church vessels to buy food for the starving. Recognizing that the destitute sick were left to inconsistent, scattered care, Landry pioneered a revolutionary concept: gathering them under a single roof to improve treatment and curb frequent epidemics. He founded the city’s first true hospital, dedicated to Saint Christopher, which later evolved into the world-renowned Hôtel-Dieu (Hostel of God) the oldest hospital in continuous operation today.
PRAYER: God, You made Saint Landericus an outstanding exemplar of Divine love and the Faith that conquers the world, adding him to the roll of saintly pastors. Grant by his intercession that we may persevere in Faith and love, open our hearts to the poor and suffering, and become sharers of his glory. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽
SAINT OLIVIA OF PALERMO, VIRGIN AND MARTYR: Saint Olivia (c. 448–463 A.D.), whose name symbolizes the olive branch of peace, dignity, and fruitfulness, was the beautiful daughter of a noble Christian family in Palermo, Sicily. At the age of thirteen, she rejected worldly wealth and suitor offers, consecrating her virginity to God and distributing her inheritance to the poor. When the Vandal King Genseric captured Sicily and unleashed a brutal wave of Christian persecution, Olivia was kidnapped and exiled to Tunis in Northern Africa. Instead of yielding to her captors, the young maiden bravely comforted her fellow Christian prisoners and performed striking miracles that converted her pagan guards. Enraged by her spiritual influence, the local governor banished her to a wild forest to die of starvation, but she ended up converting the hunters who found her. Re-arrested after curing numerous sick pagans, Olivia endured horrific tortures: she was scourged, stripped, and plunged into a cauldron of boiling oil, yet her body remained entirely unscathed. After surviving an attempt to burn her alive and converting her executioner, she was finally beheaded, with witnesses seeing her pure soul ascend to heaven in the form of a dove.
PRAYER: O Heavenly Patron, Saint Olivia, in whose name I glory, pray ever to God for me; strengthen me in my faith; establish me in virtue; and guard me in every conflict, that I may vanquish the foe malign and attain to glory everlasting. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽
BLESSED BOGUMILUS OF GNIEZNO, BISHOP: Blessed Bogumilus (c. 1135–1204 A.D.) was a pious Polish nobleman, scripture scholar, and Archbishop of Gniezno who laid down his high ecclesiastical office to seek absolute intimacy with God in monastic solitude. Born as a twin into a noble family, he completed higher studies in Paris before being ordained a priest, initially serving the parish of Holy Trinity in Dobrow, a church he funded and built with his own resources. Known for his profound devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, he served as diocesan chancellor under his uncle, whom he eventually succeeded as Archbishop of Gniezno in 1167. Throughout his five-year episcopacy, Bogumilus proved to be a zealous reformer, establishing a major Cistercian abbey at Koronowo. However, his unyielding insistence on strict clerical discipline, poverty, and a simple lifestyle incited heavy opposition from his lax clergy. Seeking peace, he resigned his see in 1172 with papal approval and spent the final thirty years of his life as a holy Camaldolese hermit at Uniedow, working miracles and counseling souls until his peaceful death.
PRAYER: Almighty God, You granted Blessed Bogumilus the grace to govern Your Church with holiness and the humility to renounce worldly honors for the peace of solitude. By his intercession, grant our clergy a spirit of authentic discipline and give us the grace to withdraw from the noise of this world to rest securely in Your presence. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

PRAYER INTENTION: FOR COMPROMISE-FREE FAITH, PROVIDENTIAL VISITATION, AND COMPASSIONATE SERVICE
On this Wednesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time, we take refuge in You, O Lord, declaring that You are our only hope, our portion, and our cup. Deliver our hearts from the dangerous temptation to straddle the fence between the clear truth of Your Word and the convenient compromises of modern culture, keeping our souls firmly anchored at Your right hand. Grant us the unyielding courage of the prophet Elijah to repair the broken altars of our homes, trusting that when we stop compromising, You will answer our absolute fidelity with the all-consuming fire of Your Holy Spirit to bring us back to our senses. When the world around us courts modern idols and multiplies its own sorrows, help us to find our total safety in Your presence. Through the intercession of Saint Landry (Patron Saint of the poor, the sick, and the hospital at Notre-Dame), Saint Olivia (Patron Saint of Music and Trivigliano, Italy; invoked against persecution and torture), and Blessed Bogumilus (Patron Saint of the Archdiocese of Gniezno; invoked for clergy discipline and lovers of solitude), grant us the grace to reject worldly vanities, to willingly pour out our resources for the sick and needy, and to remain entirely unscathed by the hidden traps of the enemy. Protect our families from all division, grant authentic discipline to our clergy, and guide our footsteps along the path of life into the fullness of Your joy. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

DEVOTION OF THE MONTH OF JUNE | MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS: June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a powerful sign of Christ’s love and mercy. His Heart, pierced and crowned with thorns, burns with compassion for all humanity. This devotion calls us to return love for love to console His Heart and make reparation for sin and indifference. Rooted in the revelations to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, the Church invites us this month to deepen our trust in Jesus, especially through First Friday devotions, the Litany of the Sacred Heart, and acts of consecration. His words echo in our hearts: “Learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart” (Matthew 11:29).
The Sacred Heart shows us what true love looks like patient, humble, and self-giving. In a world often cold and restless, we find peace and healing in His Heart.
“Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You”
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, teach us to love as You love. Fill our hearts with compassion, mercy, and a deep desire to follow You. Amen 🙏🏽

PRAYER FOR THE DEAD
We pray for the repose of the gentle souls of our loved ones and souls of all the faithful departed. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their gentle souls through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen 🙏🏽
Thanking God for His love and the gift of this glorious day, we offer Him a prayer of gratitude for the graces of the past months and entrust this month of June to His loving providence. We pray for God’s grace and mercy as we anchor ourselves in the steady, life-giving rhythm of Ordinary Time. May the profound mysteries of the Resurrection, the Ascension, and the fresh fire of the Holy Spirit, which we have so beautifully celebrated, continue to help us seek You in every moment of our lives. May the peace, hope, and divine communion that flow from the Most Holy Trinity shape our steps, inform our decisions, and strengthen our resolve to live each day in the light of Christ and the daily guidance of the Advocate. As we journey onward through the rest of this month, may God bless our families and loved ones, and may His light continue to shine brightly in every home. Let us draw closer to God and be renewed through the joy of the Gospel, the gifts of the Spirit, and generosity to the poor. May God keep us all safe and well during these challenging times. Wishing us all a spiritually enriching, most blessed, and grace-filled journey ahead. Amen. 🙏🏽
