Greetings and blessings, beloved family.
Alleluia! I will ask the Father and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always. On this day, we reach a significant moment in our Easter journey as we celebrate the 109th Anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady of Fatima. We gather to honor the Lady more brilliant than the Sun alongside a beautiful assembly of witnesses: Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Saint John the Silent, Saint Andrew Hubert Fournet, and Saint Juliana of Norwich. In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of the gentle patience of God, acknowledging that there are truths we cannot bear all at once. He promises the Spirit of Truth, the Advocate who does not speak on His own but guides us step-by-step into the fullness of Christ’s glory. This divine guidance is vividly displayed in the First Reading, where Saint Paul stands at the Areopagus in Athens. He boldly identifies the Unknown God the Athenians sought, revealing that the Creator is not far from any of us, for in him we live and move and have our being. As we join the whole of creation in the Responsorial Psalm to proclaim that “Heaven and earth are full of your glory”, let us take inspiration from our saints. Whether it is the call to prayer and penance from Fatima, the holy silence of Saint John, or the profound trust of Saint Juliana, we are reminded that the Spirit is constantly declaring the things of God to our hearts. May this Wednesday be a day of deep peace and renewed clarity as we allow the Advocate to guide our every word and action. Amen. 🙏🏽
BIBLE READINGS FOR TODAY’S HOLY MASS:
Sixth Week of Easter | USCCB | https://bible.usccb.org/daily-bible-reading
Today’s Bible Readings: Wednesday of the Sixth Week of Easter | May 13, 2026
Reading I: Acts 17:15, 22—18:1
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 148:1–2, 11–12, 13, 14
Gospel: John 16:12–15
Gospel Reading ~ John 16:12–15
“But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth.”
Jesus said to his disciples: “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”
SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS
In the Gospel, Jesus acknowledges the limitations of human understanding. He tells His disciples that He has much more to share, but they “cannot bear it now.” This reflection focuses on the Gentle Guidance of the Spirit. Faith is a journey of gradual unfolding, not a sudden explosion of total knowledge. Jesus promises the Spirit of Truth as a Divine Pedagogue who will lead the faithful into the fullness of Truth at a pace they can sustain. The Spirit does not introduce a new message independent of Christ rather, He takes what belongs to Jesus, which is everything the Father has, and makes it known to us. This reveals the perfect unity of the Holy Trinity working together for our enlightenment and salvation.
This passage also highlights that the Holy Spirit’s primary mission is to Glorify Christ. The Spirit doesn’t draw attention to Himself but illuminates the person and work of Jesus. By declaring the things that are coming, the Spirit provides the Church with the prophetic insight needed to navigate the complexities of history. For us today, this means we are never left to interpret our lives or the world’s events in a vacuum. We have an interior Guide who connects our current reality to the eternal Truth of the Father and the Son, ensuring that our faith remains grounded in the all truth of God’s plan.
The First Reading illustrates this search for truth in a secular context. In Athens, the intellectual capital of the ancient world, Paul encounters a culture “groping” for the divine. Standing at the Areopagus, he uses their altar to an Unknown God as a bridge to proclaim the Creator of heaven and earth. Paul’s sermon is a masterpiece of Evangelization through Culture, affirming that “In him we live and move and have our being.” While many scoff at the mention of the Resurrection, a few like Dionysius and Damaris allow the Spirit to open their minds. It reminds us that God is not far from any one of us and that the Spirit of Truth can use even our incomplete human intuitions to lead us to the full revelation of Jesus Christ.
The Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 148) invites the entire cosmos to join in this recognition of God’s majesty: “Heaven and earth are full of your glory.” From the heights of the heavens to the young men and maidens on earth, all creation is called to praise the Name that alone is exalted. It is a liturgical echo of Paul’s message: that the God who made the world is worthy of the praise of every creature He has brought into existence.
As we go through this Wednesday, let us reflect on the Unknowns in our own lives. Reflect today: Are there truths in your life that you feel you cannot bear right now? Can you trust the Holy Spirit to guide you into those truths at the right time? Like the Athenians, are you looking for God in the shrines of this world, or are you seeking the Lord of heaven and earth who gives life and breath to all? How can you glorify Jesus today by allowing the Spirit to take what is His and declare it through your actions?
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, we thank You for the gift of the Spirit of Truth. We confess that often we try to bear the weight of the world on our own, forgetting that You have sent an Advocate to guide us. Help us to be patient with ourselves as You unfold the mysteries of Faith in our hearts. Like Paul in Athens, give us the wisdom to speak Your Truth with boldness and grace. May our lives reflect the glory of the Father, and may we always find our being in You. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

OUR LADY OF FATIMA: In 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared six times to three shepherd children Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta in Fatima, Portugal. Described as “a Lady more brilliant than the Sun,” she urged the world to pray the Rosary daily for peace and to offer sacrifices in reparation for sins. The apparitions culminated in the “Miracle of the Sun,” witnessed by thousands, confirming her message of repentance and devotion to her Immaculate Heart. Today, Fatima remains a global beacon of hope, reminding us that through prayer and conversion, the world can find true peace.
PRAYER: God, You established the Mother of Your Son to be also our Mother. Grant that we may persevere in penance and prayer for the salvation of the world and so more effectively promote the Kingdom of Christ. Amen. 🙏🏽
OUR LADY OF THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT: This title, given by Saint Peter Julian Eymard in 1868, honors Mary as the model of devotion to the Holy Eucharist. As the one who gave her own blood to the Word to become His Body and Blood, she is the universal dispensatrix of grace who leads us to the Tabernacle. Her role is to make Jesus in the Sacrament known and loved, preparing our souls for Holy Communion and teaching us to assist zealously at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
PRAYER: Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen. 🙏🏽
SAINT JOHN THE SILENT, BISHOP: Saint John (454–558) was a man who fled the honors of a bishopric in Armenia to seek God in the silence of the desert. He joined the monastery of St. Sabas, keeping his episcopal dignity a secret for many years to maintain his humility. For seventy-six years, he lived in profound solitude and silence, conversing only with God, yet he remained a spiritual guide to those who sought his wisdom. His life testifies that in quietness and trust is our strength, and that God is found most clearly when the world is hushed.
PRAYER: St. John the Silent, teach us the value of holy silence in a noisy world. Help us to guard our tongues and seek the “Unknown God” who dwells in the stillness of our hearts. Amen. 🙏🏽
SAINT ANDREW HUBERT FOURNET, PRIEST: Saint Andrew (1752–1834) began his life as a frivolous and undisciplined young man but was transformed by the casual criticism of a beggar into a devoted “Apostle of Charity”. During the French Revolution, he risked his life to minister in secret to the faithful. He co-founded the Daughters of the Cross to care for the sick and educate the young, once even miraculously multiplying food for his community. His life shows that no one is beyond the reach of the Spirit of Truth, which can turn a worldly heart into a vessel of Divine grace.
PRAYER: God, help us to practice works of charity in imitation of Your Priest, Saint Andrew, and merit to be numbered among the blessed in Your Kingdom. Amen. 🙏🏽
SAINT JULIANA OF NORWICH, RELIGIOUS: Saint Juliana (1342–1416) was an English anchoress and mystic who received sixteen revelations of Divine Love during a life-threatening illness. Her writings, the first known English book by a woman, offer a profound message of optimism: “All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well”. She saw the world as a small hazelnut in God’s hand—made, loved, and kept by Him. Her theology reminds us that we live and move and have our being in a God of infinite compassion.
PRAYER: Saint Juliana, help us to trust in God’s providence even when we cannot see the way. May we rest in the certainty that we are loved by Him who created us. Amen. 🙏🏽
Our Blessed Mother Mary, Saint John the Silent, Saint Andrew Hubert Fournet, and Saint Juliana of Norwich — pray for us. 🙏🏽
PRAYER INTENTION: FOR WORLD PEACE, EUCHARISTIC REVERENCE, AND THE GUIDANCE OF THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
On this Wednesday of the Sixth Week of Easter, as we reflect on the Advocate who guides us into all truth, we offer our prayers through the intercession of today’s holy witnesses. Lord, we pray for global peace and an end to violence; through the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima (Patroness of Peace), we ask for the conversion of hearts and a cessation of war and terrorism in our world. Grant us the grace to pray the Rosary daily as a weapon for peace and a shield against the midnight of conflict. We pray for a deeper love of the Holy Eucharist; through the intercession of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament (Model of Eucharistic Devotion) and Saint Andrew Hubert Fournet (Promoter of Appreciation for Holy Mass), prepare our souls for Holy Communion and help us to recognize the Real Presence of Jesus in every Tabernacle. May Saint Juliana of Norwich (Patron of cats, anxious people, & writers) intercede for us, for our beloved pet cats, and for all who struggle with anxiety, that we may rest in God’s loving care and trust that all shall be well in His hands. We pray for those seeking clarity and direction; through the intercession of Saint John the Silent (Patron of Love of Silence, Contemplatives and Hermits), grant us the gift of holy silence to hear Your voice. We pray for those who feel they cannot bear their current burdens, that the Advocate may guide them step-by-step into Your light. We pray for the sick, the elderly, and those in need of education; through the intercession of Saint Andrew Hubert Fournet (Apostle to the poor, needy, aged, and children), we pray for the protection of children and the dignity of the elderly. Bless the work of those who care for the suffering, that through their service, those who feel unknown or overlooked may find their true home in You. Finally, we pray for the Church and the unity of all Christians; through the intercession of today’s saints, grant our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, and the Clergy the Spirit of Truth. We entrust to You the poor, the needy, and the souls of our departed family members. May we, like Paul and Silas, sing Your praises even in the midnight of our trials. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

THE POPE’S MONTHLY INTENTIONS FOR 2026: FOR THE MONTH OF MAY: That Everyone Might Have Food. Pope Leo invites us to pray that no one might lack the food they need and that we might learn to live more responsibly, recognizing that the earth’s resources are a gift for everyone.

DEVOTION OF THE MONTH OF MAY | MONTH OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY: May is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God and our spiritual Mother. This month invites the faithful to draw closer to Mary through prayer, reflection, and imitation of her virtues especially her humility, obedience, purity, and unwavering faith. As the first and most perfect disciple of Christ, Mary leads us gently but firmly to her Son. Throughout Church history, May has been a time to honor Mary with special devotions such as the Rosary, May Crownings, Marian processions, and prayers like the Litany of Loreto. The Church teaches that Mary, assumed body and soul into Heaven, intercedes for us as Queen of Heaven and Mother of the Church. During this month, we are called to renew our relationship with her and seek her maternal care in our joys, sorrows, and needs. Mary said “yes” to God’s plan with total trust: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). Her faithful surrender encourages us to say “yes” to God’s will in our own lives. As we meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary and contemplate her role in salvation history, we grow in our love for her and our desire to follow Christ more closely.
In this beautiful month of blooming flowers, may our hearts also blossom with deeper devotion to the Mother of our Savior. Let us bring her our prayers, our homes, and our lives, asking her to accompany us with her love and protection.
“O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”
Hail Mary, full of grace! Teach us to love Jesus as you loved Him. Cover us with your mantle of mercy, and help us to walk always in the light of your Son. Amen 🙏🏽

PRAYER FOR THE DEAD
We pray for the repose of the gentle souls of our loved ones and souls of all the faithful departed. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their gentle souls through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen 🙏🏽
Thanking God for His love and the gift of this glorious day, we offer Him a prayer of gratitude for the graces of the past month and entrust this month of May to His loving providence. We pray for God’s grace and mercy as we continue this season of Easter joy. May the Resurrection of Your Son help us to seek You in every moment of our lives. May the peace, hope, and steady guidance that flow from the empty tomb shape our steps, inform our decisions, and strengthen our resolve to live each day in the light of the Risen Christ. As we journey onward into this new month, may God bless our families and loved ones, and may His light continue to shine brightly in every home. Let us draw closer to God and be renewed through the joy of the Gospel and generosity to the poor. May God keep us all safe and well during these challenging times. Wishing us all a spiritually enriching, most blessed, and grace-filled Easter Season. Amen. 🙏🏽
