Greetings and blessings, beloved family!

“Rejoice and be glad; for your reward will be great in heaven.” Alleluia! Welcome to this new week! Today, the Church pairs Scripture with the profound trust of Saint Médard and Saint William of York. Both of these witnesses abandoned worldly pride for God alone. Whether it was Saint Médard bearing trials in quiet patience, or Saint William heroically forgiving the bitter detractors who unjustly deposed him, they proved that true security is found only in divine providence. In today’s Gospel (Matthew 5:1–12), Jesus delivers the Beatitudes, a manifesto that completely upends human standards of success. He pronounces true blessedness not upon the wealthy or self-sufficient, but upon the poor in spirit, the meek, the merciful, and those who endure slander for His sake. Christ promises that those who hunger for true righteousness will be fully satisfied, offering an eternal reward to all who choose humility over earthly applause. The First Reading (1 Kings 17:1–6) shows this radical reliance in action. After boldly confronting a corrupt regime, the prophet Elijah is commanded to hide by the remote Wadi Cherith. In this season of isolation and cultural drought, Elijah trusts God completely, drinking from a stream while ravens miraculously deliver his daily food. Anchored in this same absolute safety, we declare in today’s Responsorial Psalm: “Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”

As you begin this week, are you frantically chasing after worldly status, or are you sitting at the feet of Jesus to embrace a poverty of spirit? Do you trust that God will deploy unexpected resources to sustain you through your personal droughts?

Gospel: Matthew 5:1–12

Gospel Reading ~ Matthew 5:1–12

“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS

In the Gospel, Christ pulls His disciples away from the noisy, transactional values of the world to establish the unshakeable, interior constitution of His Kingdom. This reflection centers on The Paradox of the Beatitudes and the Heavenly Reversal of Worth. Ascending the mountain and adopting the formal teaching posture of divine authority, Jesus delivers a manifesto that completely upends human standards of success. He pronounces true blessedness not upon the self-sufficient, wealthy, or aggressive, but upon the poor in spirit, the sorrowful, the meek, and those who relentlessly hunger and thirst for righteousness. Christ reveals that the currencies of heaven are minted in quiet mercy, purity of heart, and peaceful reconciliation. He sets up a profound spiritual crossroad: those who endure cultural insults, slander, and unprovoked persecution purely because of Him are commanded to leap for joy. By identifying His followers with the ancient prophets, Jesus guarantees that an enduring, cosmic reward awaits those whose identities are firmly hidden in God.

The First Reading provides a striking historical example of this unyielding reliance on the divine voice, presenting The Prophetic Decree of Drought and the Hidden Economy of Providence. Bursting onto the scene with absolute spiritual authority, Elijah the Tishbite boldly confronts King Ahab, binding the physical elements by declaring that neither dew nor rain shall fall except by his prophetic word. Following this dangerous confrontation with a corrupt regime, the Lord immediately commands Elijah to withdraw into hiding by the remote Wadi Cherith. In this place of isolation, God subjects His prophet to a radical classroom of survival, instructing him to drink from a simple stream and appointing predatory ravens to deliver his daily bread and meat every morning and evening. Elijah’s obedience highlights a major spiritual reality: when we stand boldly for divine truth, God will deploy unexpected, supernatural means to sustain our lives in the middle of a cultural drought.

The Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 121) functions as our confident declaration of security amidst these inevitable droughts and trials, singing: “Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” It shifts our gaze away from earthly strongholds and lifts our eyes to the Creator, our tireless Guardian who never slumbers or sleeps. The text reminds us that the Lord stands as a protective shade at our right hand, ensuring that neither the blinding pressures of the day nor the hidden anxieties of the night can crush our souls. Because He actively watches over our lives, He guards our coming and our going, providing an unshakeable shield both now and forever.

As we step into the responsibilities of this new week, let us examine the true source of our daily security. Reflect today: Are you frantically trying to secure your life through human approval and worldly wealth, or are you learning to sit at the feet of Jesus and embrace the poverty of spirit that inherits the Kingdom? Are you afraid to speak or stand for the truth because of the cultural drought around you, or do you trust that God can command even the “ravens” of life to sustain you in obedience? Are you resting in the protective shadow of the Guardian who never sleeps, or are you losing your peace to anxiety?

Let us pray: Lord Jesus Christ, You are the Divine Teacher who climbed the mountain to show us the path of true blessedness. Forgive us for the times we have chased after worldly status, compromises, or self-sufficiency, forgetting that our true help comes from You alone. We ask that You cultivate within our souls a deep hunger and thirst for true righteousness. Strip away our pride and make us peacemakers, merciful servants, and clean of heart. Grant us the bold, uncompromised spirit of Elijah to stand for Your truth, and the absolute trust to rest quietly by whatever “Wadi Cherith” You call us to inhabit. Guard our families from all evil, preserve our coming and our going this week, and fill our homes with that prophetic joy that looks past earthly trials to claim our great reward in heaven. You who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. 🙏🏽

SAINT MÉDARD, BISHOP: Saint Médard of Noyon (c. 456–545 A.D.), also known as Medardus, was one of the most popularly venerated and exemplary French prelates of the sixth century, famously known as the “Master of Rain.” Born to a pious family in Picardy, Médard spent his youth carefully avoiding worldly dissipations to study sacred letters, developing a profound, instinctive charity for the poor. Ordained to the priesthood at age thirty-three, his outstanding piety led to his consecration as Bishop of Vermand by Saint Remigius. Due to violent barbarian incursions and devastating wars, he strategically transferred his episcopal see to the fortified city of Noyon, later assuming direction of the Tournai diocese at the insistence of King Clotaire. Renowned for bearing heavy persecutions in quiet silence and patience, a legendary account states an eagle once spread its wings over Médard to keep him perfectly dry during a sudden torrential storm. The holy bishop instituted an enduring yearly rose-crowning scholarship for virtuous youth and famously clothed Queen Radegund as a deaconess before dying in deep sanctity.

PRAYER: God, Light and Shepherd of souls, You established Saint Médard as Bishop in Your Church to feed Your flock by his word and form it by his example. Help us through his intercession to keep the Faith he taught and follow the way he showed. Guard our lands from devastating weather, loose the bonds of the captive, and heal our minds by Your peace. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

SAINT WILLIAM OF YORK, BISHOP: Saint William of York (d. 1154 A.D.), born William Fitzherbert, was a generous, kind-hearted English priest and Archbishop of York who overcame intense political and ecclesiastical opposition through heroic patience. Born into a powerful noble family as the nephew of King Stephen, William served as a popular treasurer of York Minster before his election as Archbishop. His appointment was instantly fiercely disputed by rival factions who falsely alleged simony and royal pressure, drawing intense opposition even from Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. Though he proved his innocence and carried out gentle reforms, renewed complaints led to his unjust papal suspension and deposition. Instead of fueling bitterness, William took peaceful refuge as a humble monk in quiet prayer, penance, and total mortification for six years. Following the deaths of his main detractors, he was triumphantly restored to his see by Pope Anastasius IV. Returning to York, he immediately showed immense kindness and full restitution to the Cistercians who had opposed him, dying suddenly just months later after celebrating Mass on Trinity Sunday.

PRAYER: Almighty God, You granted Saint William of York the grace to conquer bitter rivalries and false accusations through an unyielding spirit of meekness and forgiveness. Help our households to fully reject the desire for worldly status, to bear injuries with patience, and to offer absolute reconciliation to those who oppose us, that we may remain clean of heart before You. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

PRAYER INTENTION: FOR SPIRITUAL RECONCILIATION, PROVIDENTIAL TRUST, AND COVENANT COMFORT

On this Monday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time, we lift up our eyes toward the mountains, declaring that our help comes entirely from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. We rest in the unshakeable truth that You are our tireless Guardian who neither slumbers nor sleeps. We pray for a hunger for true righteousness and an embrace of the Beatitudes; Lord, deliver our families from the frantic pursuit of worldly status and temporary success. Cultivate within our hearts a deep poverty of spirit, true meekness, and a genuine desire for peace. Teach us to rejoice and be glad even when faced with cultural insults, slander, or unprovoked opposition for the sake of Your name, keeping our eyes fixed on our great reward in heaven. We pray for absolute reliance on Your divine providence during droughts; Like Elijah at the Wadi Cherith, give us the grace to trust Your voice completely when passing through seasons of isolation or material difficulty, knowing that You can command unexpected means to sustain our lives. We pray for structural protection and the grace of total forgiveness; through the loving prayers of Saint Médard (Patron Saint of weather; invoked against bad weather, imprisonment, and for the mentally ill) and Saint William of York (Invoked for the conversion of sinners, and for peace, love, and unity in families), we beg for the mending of all fractured relationships. Grant us the heroic patience to bear false accusations in silence and to offer immediate reconciliation to those who oppose us. Guard our lands from devastating elements, deliver those trapped by anxieties, and keep our coming and going secure both now and forever. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

DEVOTION OF THE MONTH OF JUNE | MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS: June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a powerful sign of Christ’s love and mercy. His Heart, pierced and crowned with thorns, burns with compassion for all humanity. This devotion calls us to return love for love to console His Heart and make reparation for sin and indifference. Rooted in the revelations to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, the Church invites us this month to deepen our trust in Jesus, especially through First Friday devotions, the Litany of the Sacred Heart, and acts of consecration. His words echo in our hearts: “Learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart” (Matthew 11:29).

The Sacred Heart shows us what true love looks like patient, humble, and self-giving. In a world often cold and restless, we find peace and healing in His Heart.

“Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You”

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, teach us to love as You love. Fill our hearts with compassion, mercy, and a deep desire to follow You. Amen 🙏🏽

PRAYER FOR THE DEAD
We pray for the repose of the gentle souls of our loved ones and souls of all the faithful departed. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their gentle souls through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen 🙏🏽

Thanking God for His love and the gift of this glorious day, we offer Him a prayer of gratitude for the graces of the past months and entrust this month of June to His loving providence. We pray for God’s grace and mercy as we anchor ourselves in the steady, life-giving rhythm of Ordinary Time. May the profound mysteries of the Resurrection, the Ascension, and the fresh fire of the Holy Spirit, which we have so beautifully celebrated, continue to help us seek You in every moment of our lives. May the peace, hope, and divine communion that flow from the Most Holy Trinity shape our steps, inform our decisions, and strengthen our resolve to live each day in the light of Christ and the daily guidance of the Advocate. As we journey onward through the rest of this month, may God bless our families and loved ones, and may His light continue to shine brightly in every home. Let us draw closer to God and be renewed through the joy of the Gospel, the gifts of the Spirit, and generosity to the poor. May God keep us all safe and well during these challenging times. Wishing us all a spiritually enriching, most blessed, and grace-filled journey ahead. Amen. 🙏🏽

Save Us, Savior of the World. Our Blessed Mother Mary, Saint Médard, Saint William of York, and all the Saints we celebrate today ~ Pray for us. 🙏🏽
