Greetings and blessings, beloved family!
Today, the Church celebrates the Thursday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time, together with the Memorial of Saint Peter Chrysologus, Bishop and Doctor, Saints Abdon and Sennen, Martyrs, and Blessed Solanus Casey, Priest. Today’s liturgy reminds us that we are like clay in the hands of the Master Potter, who patiently reshapes our brokenness into vessels of honor as we await the final harvest of God’s Kingdom. This yielding faith is reflected in today’s saints, in Saint Peter Chrysologus, who preached the truths of faith with golden clarity; in Saints Abdon and Sennen, who refused to abandon Christ under persecution; and in Blessed Solanus Casey, who transformed the simple role of monastery doorkeeper into a powerhouse of divine healing and counsel. May we remain soft, pliable clay in the Lord’s hands today and allow His grace to mold us.
BIBLE READINGS FOR TODAY’S HOLY MASS:
Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time | USCCB | https://bible.usccb.org/daily-bible-reading
Today’s Bible Readings for Thursday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time | July 30, 2026
Reading 1: Jeremiah 18:1-6
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 146:1b-2, 3-4, 5-6ab
Gospel: Matthew 13:47-53
Gospel Reading ~ Matthew 13:47-53
“The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind… Thus it will be at the end of the age.”
“Jesus said to the disciples: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away. Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. Do you understand all these things?’ They answered, ‘Yes.’ And he replied, ‘Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.’ When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there.”
SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS
In today’s Gospel, Jesus offers the Parable of the Net, reminding us that the Gospel message is cast wide into the world to gather everyone. However, a time of separation and judgment will inevitably come at the end of the age. God in His patience allows good and bad to coexist for a time, giving every person the opportunity to repent and align their heart with His Kingdom. Jesus asks His disciples if they understand these truths and calls them to be like wise scribes, able to draw upon both the ancient promises of God and the new life revealed in Christ to guide others faithfully.
In the First Reading, God sends the prophet Jeremiah to the potter’s house to witness a powerful visual lesson. When a vessel turns out badly, the potter does not discard the clay; instead, he reshapes it into a new creation. God declares, “Indeed, like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand.”
The Responsorial Psalm reinforces where our true trust should rest, proclaiming, “Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,” reminding us not to anchor our hope in human powers, but in the Creator who made heaven and earth.
Today’s readings invite us to yield our lives entirely to God’s transforming hands. No matter our past flaws, mistakes, or brokenness, the Master Potter is always ready to reshape us into vessels of grace, honor, and purpose. May we remain soft, pliable clay in His hands, trusting in His merciful design for our lives.
Lord God, You are the Master Potter, and we are the clay. Forgive us for the times we have hardened our hearts or put our trust in worldly promises instead of You. Yield our hearts to Your tender touch so that You may reshape us into instruments of Your peace, love, and truth. Give us wisdom to understand Your Kingdom and grace to be found among the good yield at the final harvest. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

SAINT PETER CHRYSOLOGUS, BISHOP AND DOCTOR (C. 406–450): Known as the “Doctor of Homilies,” Saint Peter was named Archbishop of Ravenna around 433 A.D. His brilliant, concise, and accessible preaching earned him the name Chrysologus (“golden-worded”). He governed his flock with wisdom and mercy, rooting out paganism and heresies while urging frequent Holy Communion. Reminding us that “anyone who wishes to frolic with the devil cannot rejoice with Christ,” his clarity in explaining the faith led Pope Benedict XIII to declare him a Doctor of the Church in 1729.
PRAYER: O God, who made Saint Peter Chrysologus a wise and eloquent preacher of Your Word, grant that we may ponder the mysteries of salvation with clarity and live them out in loving service. Amen. 🙏🏽
SAINTS ABDON AND SENNEN, MARTYRS (D. C. 250): Persian nobles who traveled to Rome, Saints Abdon and Sennen were arrested during the persecutions under Emperor Decius for courageously burying Christian martyrs. When they refused to sacrifice to pagan idols, they were thrown to wild beasts in the arena, but the animals left them unharmed. They were eventually slain by the sword, giving their lives for Christ. They are patrons of children, good harvests, and those who bury the dead.
PRAYER: Saints Abdon and Sennen, courageous witnesses of the Gospel, pray for us to remain steadfast in trials. Intercede for persecuted Christians and strengthen all who face fear or persecution today. Amen. 🙏🏽
BLESSED SOLANUS CASEY, PRIEST (1870–1957): Born Bernard Francis Casey in Wisconsin, Blessed Solanus was a humble Capuchin friar. Ordained a simplex priest—meaning he was not permitted to preach formal sermons or hear confessions—he served for decades as a simple monastery doorkeeper in Detroit. Yet through his warmth, profound counsel, and deep trust in Divine Providence, God worked thousands of miraculous healings through him. Beatified in 2017, he shows us how holiness shines in the most ordinary duties.
PRAYER: Blessed Solanus Casey, model of humility and joyful trust, pray for us. Teach us to serve others with love, embrace hidden duties with faith, and walk confidently in God’s providence. Amen. 🙏🏽

PRAYER INTENTION: SURRENDER TO GOD’S WILL, CHILDREN, AND THE SICK
Heavenly Father, You are the Master Potter who shapes us with love and gathers us into the net of Your eternal Kingdom. As we surrender our lives into Your hands today, grant us pliable hearts, courageous faith, and the grace to serve others in hidden, ordinary ways. Through the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary, Saint Peter Chrysologus, Saints Abdon and Sennen (Patrons of children and good harvests), and Blessed Solanus Casey (Patron of doorkeepers and helper of the sick), we bring our prayers to You. We pray for the safety and well-being of all children; for all doorkeepers, counselors, and caretakers; and for the sick and dying, especially those suffering from cancers and terminal illnesses, begging for Your healing touch. Provide for the poor and needy, bring peace and unity to our families, protect Your Church and clergy, sustain persecuted Christians, and lead all sinners to conversion. May we yield to Your shaping hands and shine as instruments of Your grace today. Amen. 🙏🏽

THE POPE’S MONTHLY INTENTIONS FOR 2026: FOR THE MONTH OF JULY: For respect for human life. Let us pray for the respect and protection of human life in all its stages, recognizing it as a gift from God.

DEVOTION OF THE MONTH OF JULY | MONTH OF THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS: July is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ a profound devotion that honors the redeeming power of Christ’s Blood shed for our salvation. Flowing from His Sacred Heart, this Blood is the price of our redemption, the source of grace in the sacraments, and the seal of the New Covenant. It reminds us that salvation was not won lightly, but through the ultimate sacrifice of love. This month, the Church invites us to meditate on the infinite value of Christ’s Blood poured out during His Passion from Gethsemane to Calvary and in every celebration of the Holy Eucharist. We are called to offer acts of reparation for the sins of the world and to intercede for the conversion of souls. Devotions such as the Litany of the Precious Blood, the Chaplet of the Precious Blood, and daily consecration to the Precious Blood help deepen our union with Christ crucified.
As Saint John Chrysostom once said, “The Precious Blood is the salvation of souls; it purifies, sanctifies, and strengthens.” In our trials, let us take refuge beneath the cross, trusting in the Blood that speaks of mercy, victory, and eternal life.
“Precious Blood of Jesus, save us and the whole world.”
O Most Precious Blood of Jesus, fountain of salvation, we adore You. Wash us clean of sin, protect us from evil, and draw us into deeper love and union with You. Amen. 🙏🏽

PRAYER FOR THE DEAD
We pray for the repose of the gentle souls of our loved ones and souls of all the faithful departed. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their gentle souls through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen 🙏🏽
Thanking God for His love and the gift of this glorious day, we offer Him a prayer of gratitude for the graces of the past months and entrust this month of July to His loving providence. We pray for God’s grace and mercy as we anchor ourselves in the steady, life-giving rhythm of Ordinary Time. May the profound mysteries of the Cross, the cleansing power of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, and the enduring fire of the Holy Spirit continue to help us seek You in every moment of our lives. May the peace, hope, and divine communion that flow from the Heart of our Redeemer shape our steps, inform our decisions, and strengthen our resolve to live each day in the light of Christ and the daily guidance of the Advocate. As we journey onward through the rest of this month, may God bless our families and loved ones, and may His light continue to shine brightly in every home. Let us draw closer to God and be renewed through the joy of the Gospel, the gifts of the Spirit, and generosity to the poor. May God keep us all safe and well during these challenging times. Wishing us all a spiritually enriching, most blessed, and grace-filled journey ahead. Amen. 🙏🏽
Save Us, Savior of the World. Our Blessed Mother Mary Saint Peter Chrysologus, Saints Abdon and Sennen, Blessed Solanus Casey, and all the Saints we celebrate today ~ Pray for us. 🙏🏽
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you! Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for us. Amen 🙏🏽
Blessings and Love always, Philomena 💖
