Greetings and blessings, beloved family!
Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel, Alleluia! Today the church celebrates the Monday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time, alongside the Memorial of Saint Maria Goretti, Virgin and Martyr; Saint Godelieve, Martyr; Saint Goar of Aquitaine, Priest and Hermit; and Blessed Maria Theresa Ledóchowska, Religious. Today’s liturgy delivers a profoundly moving message of restoration and healing. From the tender words of Hosea, where God promises to lead us into the desert to speak intimately to our hearts, to the dramatic power of Jesus in the Gospel raising a young girl and curing a long-suffering woman, we are reminded that no brokenness is beyond His touch. This same radical grace shines through the heroic purity of Saint Maria Goretti and the saints we celebrate today, who chose the path of love and divine fidelity over cosmic and earthly chaos. Let us open our hearts to the promptings of the Holy Spirit as we dive into today’s scripture and saint reflections.
BIBLE READINGS FOR TODAY’S HOLY MASS:
Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time | USCCB | https://bible.usccb.org/daily-bible-reading
Today’s Bible Readings: Monday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time | July 6, 2026
Reading I: Hosea 2:16, 17c–18, 21–22
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 145:2–3, 4–5, 6–7, 8–9
Gospel: Matthew 9:18–26
GOSPEL READING ~ MATTHEW 9:18–26
“Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.”
While Jesus was speaking, an official came forward, knelt down before him, and said, “My daughter has just died. But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live.” Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples. A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak. She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.” Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, “Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.” And from that hour the woman was cured. When Jesus arrived at the official’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion, he said, “Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they ridiculed him. When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand, and the little girl arose. And news of this spread throughout all that land.
SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS
In the Gospel, Christ displays His absolute dominion over human desperation, chronic suffering, and death itself, presenting The Power of Desperate Faith and the Restoration of Life. As Jesus journeys with a grieving official whose daughter has just died, His path is intercepted by a woman carrying twelve years of isolating agony and physical depletion. Moving past social barriers with silent, audacious faith, she seeks merely to touch the fringe of His garment, believing that true healing flows from His hidden presence. Christ turns a moment of anonymous desperation into a public testament of grace, honoring her interior boldness with a word of divine affirmation that seals her instantaneous cure. Proceeding to the official’s house, Jesus confronts a loud, ridiculing crowd blinded by mortal finality. Dismissing the skeptics, He redefines death as mere sleep, takes the young girl by the hand, and commands life to return. Through this dual display of authority, Christ reveals that no condition is too chronic for His touch, and no loss is too final for His reviving hand.
The First Reading anchors this restorative power in a deeply tender, covenantal promise, presenting The Seduction of Grace and the Espousal in the Wilderness. Speaking through the prophet Hosea to an unfaithful people, God reveals that His ultimate response to human straying is not destructive anger, but an overwhelming, alluring mercy. He promises to lead His people into the stripping solitude of the desert, not to abandon them, but to speak intimately to their aching hearts and restore the joyful, responsive love of their youth. Stripping away the names of false idols, the Lord pledges a deep, everlasting restoration, promising to espouse His people to Himself forever. This new covenant is built on an unshakeable foundation of right, justice, love, mercy, and fidelity, ensuring that through this divine intimacy, humanity will truly and deeply know the Lord.
The Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 145) serves as our collective hymn of gratitude for this enduring tenderness, singing: “The Lord is gracious and merciful.” It outlines a life of perpetual praise, declaring that God’s majesty is unsearchable and worthy of generational honor. The text celebrates a Creator whose authority is matched by His compassion, affirming that the Lord is slow to anger, rich in kindness, and actively good to all His works.
As we step into the demands, deadlines, and personal anxieties of this Monday, let us examine how we approach the limitations of our current circumstances. Reflect today: Are you carrying a long-term, exhausting burden, whether relational, physical, or emotional that has left you feeling depleted and isolated, and have you lost the courage to stretch out your hand to touch the hem of Christ’s garment? Are you looking at a situation in your life or family that seems completely dead, allowing the pessimistic noise of the crowd to convince you that hope is lost? How can you step away from the worldly commotion today, allowing Jesus to take you by the hand and speak His reviving word into your weary heart?
Let us pray: Merciful Lord, Physician of Soul and Body, You are the Lifter of our heads and the ultimate Answer to our silent cries. Forgive us for the times we have allowed chronic trials or sudden losses to paralyze our faith, or when we have listened to the ridiculing voices of doubt rather than Your quiet promise. We thank You for Your alluring grace that meets us in our dry, desert moments to speak restoration to our hearts. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us today; grant us the audacious faith to seek Your presence amidst the crowding anxieties of life. Touch our areas of brokenness, heal our hidden wounds, and raise up everything within our households that has fallen into stagnation or despair. Walk with us through every hour of this week, confident that Your loving kindness is unshakeable and Your mercy is new every morning. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

SAINT MARIA GORETTI, VIRGIN AND MARTYR: Born in 1890 in Corinaldo, Italy, Saint Maria Goretti grew up in poverty and holiness. Though her father died when she was just nine, Maria remained joyful, prayerful, and mature beyond her years. At age eleven, she was attacked by Alessandro Serenelli, a young man who had repeatedly harassed her. In a final violent attempt, he tried to force himself on her, but Maria resisted, crying, “No! It is a sin! God does not want it!” Rather than give in, she chose death over sin, and was stabbed 14 times.
While dying in the hospital, Maria forgave Alessandro, offering her pain to God. She said, “Yes, for the love of Jesus, I forgive him… and I want him with me in Paradise.” This mercy bore fruit: Alessandro had a powerful vision of Maria while in prison, which led to his conversion. After 27 years, he emerged repentant, knelt before Maria’s mother for forgiveness, and later became a lay Franciscan. He even attended Maria’s canonization in 1950, where her family was present—a rare moment in Church history. Canonized as one of the youngest Saints, Maria Goretti remains a radiant model of purity, mercy, and heroic love. She is a protector of youth and a reminder that holiness knows no age.
PRAYER: O Lord, who gave us Saint Maria Goretti as a witness of purity and forgiveness, help us to resist temptation, embrace chastity, and love with the mercy You have shown us. Saint Maria Goretti, pray for us. 🙏🏽
SAINT GODELIEVE, MARTYR: Saint Godelieve (1052–1070), a noblewoman from Belgium, longed to be a nun but was forced into a cruel marriage with Lord Bertolf of Gistel. Her new life was filled with abuse, starvation, and humiliation, yet Godelieve responded with silence, service, and deep faith. She even shared her meager food with the poor. After escaping once, she was forced to return and eventually murdered by her husband’s orders strangled by servants and thrown into a pond to fake an accident. Her sanctity was recognized quickly. Miracles followed her death, and even her daughter from Bertolf’s second marriage entered religious life, eventually writing her mother’s biography. Saint Godelieve is venerated as a martyr of domestic suffering and an advocate for the voiceless and oppressed.
PRAYER: Merciful Father, who granted Saint Godelieve the strength to endure abuse with grace and charity, teach us to seek peace in our homes and justice for those who suffer in silence. Saint Godelieve, pray for us. 🙏🏽
SAINT GOAR OF AQUITAINE, PRIEST AND HERMIT: Saint Goar (d. 575), born to nobility in Aquitaine, France, became a priest noted for his holiness and preaching. Seeking solitude, he moved to Trier, Germany, where he lived as a hermit and built a church that became a place of miracles and hospitality. Accused falsely of hypocrisy, he humbly submitted to investigation, performing miracles including hanging his cloak on a sunbeam which revealed his innocence. Though offered the bishopric of Trier, Goar declined, desiring only a life of prayer and service. He suffered for seven years before his death, remaining faithful and generous to the end. His life reminds us that true greatness lies in humility and quiet service.
PRAYER: Lord God, who raised up Saint Goar as a humble priest and miracle-worker, teach us to seek You in the hidden life and to serve others with quiet joy. Saint Goar of Aquitaine, pray for us. 🙏🏽
BLESSED MARIA THERESA LEDÓCHOWSKA, RELIGIOUS: Blessed Maria Theresa Ledóchowska (1863–1922), born into Polish nobility, could have spent her life in royal luxury, but was moved by the needs of African missions and the call to end slavery. Inspired by Cardinal Lavigerie’s appeal, she launched the magazine Echo From Africa, wrote plays and articles, and became a voice for missionaries, especially women. Freed from court duties by Emperor Franz Joseph, she dedicated her life to mission work, founding the Missionary Sisters of Saint Peter Claver. Her efforts led to the creation of thousands of missionary publications, catechisms, and translations across Africa. Known as the “Mother of the Africans,” she died of tuberculosis, having lived in tireless love for God and neighbor.
PRAYER: Almighty God, You inspired Blessed Maria Theresa Ledóchowska to devote her talents to the missions and the oppressed. May her example awaken in us a deeper sense of missionary zeal and compassion. Blessed Maria Theresa, pray for us. 🙏🏽
HONORING THE SAINTS OF THE DAY:
As we draw profound inspiration today from the heroic purity and forgiving heart of Saint Maria Goretti, the patient endurance of Saint Godelieve, the warm hospitality of Saint Goar of Aquitaine, and the tireless missionary charity of Blessed Maria Theresa Ledóchowska, we also lift our hearts to the entire cloud of witnesses sharing this July 6th feast day. Today, we prayerfully honor and remember THE ABRAHAMITES MONKS, SAINT DOMINICA, THE MARTYRS OF THE ABRAHAMITES, SAINT MERRYN, SAINT MODWENNA, SAINT MONENNAA, SAINT NAZARIA IGNACIA MARCH MESA, SAINT NOYALA, SAINT RIXIUS VARUS, SAINTS ROMULUS AND COMPANIONS, SAINT SEXBURGA, BLESSED THOMAS ALFIELD, AND SAINT TRANQUILLINUS. Spanning across centuries of Church history, from ancient courageous bishops and hidden Celtic abbesses to early Roman martyrs who stood firm in their witness, and modern holy foundresses serving the poor, their collective lives beautifully reflect the multifaceted grace of God. Remembering them reminds us that we are supported by an incredibly vast and diverse family of faith, encouraging us to follow their example and walk our own path toward holiness with confidence today.

PRAYER INTENTION: HEALING FOR VICTIMS, RESTORATION OF MARRIAGES, MISSIONARY ZEAL, AND HEROIC FORGIVENESS
Heavenly Father, on this beautiful day, we marvel at the alluring tenderness and restoring power of Your grace as revealed in today’s scriptures, where You promise to lead us out of our deserts and speak intimately to our weary hearts. We lift our hearts to You, begging for the complete renewal of our spiritual lives, our homes, and our daily routines, praying that the true healing and authentic liberty found only in Your Gospel may prevail across all nations. Through the powerful intercession of the saints we honor today, we bring our specific intentions before Your throne. By the courageous patronage of Saint Maria Goretti (Patron Saint of youth, purity, forgiveness, and rape victims), we pray for the safety of children worldwide, the deep healing of all victims of sexual assault and abuse, and the heroic grace of forgiveness that breaks the chains of resentment. Through the sorrowful prayers of Saint Godelieve (Patron Saint of peaceful marriages and advocate against throat afflictions), we pray for the restoration of troubled marriages, the protection of women enduring domestic abuse, and the healing of those suffering from cancer and diseases of the throat. We also invoke the gentle intercession of Saint Goar of Aquitaine (Patron Saint of hospitality and against false accusations), asking for the grace of quiet humility, vindication for those suffering under malicious slander, and a spirit of joyful generosity toward the poor and marginalized. Finally, through the tireless patronage of Blessed Maria Theresa Ledóchowska (Apostle and Mother of the Africans), we pray for the Church, the Clergy, and persecuted Christians worldwide, asking that You ignite a fresh missionary zeal within us to proclaim Your love to the ends of the earth. Lord, take us by the hand, raise us out of our spiritual stagnation, and grant us the faith to live as humble children of Your household, always glorifying Your holy name. Amen. 🙏🏽

DEVOTION OF THE MONTH OF JULY | MONTH OF THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS: July is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ a profound devotion that honors the redeeming power of Christ’s Blood shed for our salvation. Flowing from His Sacred Heart, this Blood is the price of our redemption, the source of grace in the sacraments, and the seal of the New Covenant. It reminds us that salvation was not won lightly, but through the ultimate sacrifice of love. This month, the Church invites us to meditate on the infinite value of Christ’s Blood poured out during His Passion from Gethsemane to Calvary and in every celebration of the Holy Eucharist. We are called to offer acts of reparation for the sins of the world and to intercede for the conversion of souls. Devotions such as the Litany of the Precious Blood, the Chaplet of the Precious Blood, and daily consecration to the Precious Blood help deepen our union with Christ crucified.
As Saint John Chrysostom once said, “The Precious Blood is the salvation of souls; it purifies, sanctifies, and strengthens.” In our trials, let us take refuge beneath the cross, trusting in the Blood that speaks of mercy, victory, and eternal life.
“Precious Blood of Jesus, save us and the whole world.”
O Most Precious Blood of Jesus, fountain of salvation, we adore You. Wash us clean of sin, protect us from evil, and draw us into deeper love and union with You. Amen. 🙏🏽

PRAYER FOR THE DEAD
We pray for the repose of the gentle souls of our loved ones and souls of all the faithful departed. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their gentle souls through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen 🙏🏽
Thanking God for His love and the gift of this glorious day, we offer Him a prayer of gratitude for the graces of the past months and entrust this month of July to His loving providence. We pray for God’s grace and mercy as we anchor ourselves in the steady, life-giving rhythm of Ordinary Time. May the profound mysteries of the Cross, the cleansing power of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, and the enduring fire of the Holy Spirit continue to help us seek You in every moment of our lives. May the peace, hope, and divine communion that flow from the Heart of our Redeemer shape our steps, inform our decisions, and strengthen our resolve to live each day in the light of Christ and the daily guidance of the Advocate. As we journey onward through the rest of this month, may God bless our families and loved ones, and may His light continue to shine brightly in every home. Let us draw closer to God and be renewed through the joy of the Gospel, the gifts of the Spirit, and generosity to the poor. May God keep us all safe and well during these challenging times. Wishing us all a spiritually enriching, most blessed, and grace-filled journey ahead. Amen. 🙏🏽
