Greetings and blessings, beloved family!
“Incline my heart, O God, to your decrees; and favor me with your law.” Alleluia! Welcome to this beautiful Saturday! Today, the Church pairs the radical demand for truth with the extraordinary fidelity of Saint Anthony of Padua, the “Evangelical Doctor.” Anthony walked away from noble wealth, hid his brilliant intellect to serve as a humble kitchen assistant, and eventually converted thousands through his bold, uncompromising preaching. He proved that a life entirely surrendered to Christ becomes an unstoppable instrument of truth. In today’s Gospel (Matthew 5:33–37), Jesus demands absolute, transparent honesty, commanding that our “Yes” mean “Yes” and our “No” mean “No,” warning that any duplicity comes from the Evil One. This unreserved commitment is mirrored in the First Reading (1 Kings 19:19–21), where Elisha gives a radical “Yes” to God’s call slaughtering his oxen and burning his plowing equipment to follow Elijah without looking back. Choosing God over all earthly security, we sing in today’s Responsorial Psalm: “You are my inheritance, O Lord.”
Are you currently using half-truths or compromises to protect your comfort? Do you have the courage of Elisha and Saint Anthony to burn your bridges to dishonesty today, letting your word be completely transparent before God?
BIBLE READINGS FOR TODAY’S HOLY MASS:
Tenth Week in Ordinary Time | USCCB | https://bible.usccb.org/daily-bible-reading
Today’s Bible Readings: Saturday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time | June 13, 2026
Reading I: 1 Kings 19:19–21
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 16:1b–2a and 5, 7–8, 9–10
Gospel: Matthew 5:33–37
Gospel Reading ~ Matthew 5:33–37
“Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the Evil One.”
Jesus said to his disciples: “You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, Do not take a false oath, but make good to the Lord all that you vow. But I say to you, do not swear at all; not by heaven, for it is God’s throne; nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Do not swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the Evil One.”
SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS
In the Gospel, Christ penetrates the linguistic and moral integrity of His disciples, presenting The Radical Simplicity of Absolute Truth and the Elimination of Duplicitous Guarantees. Piercing through the complex legal loopholes of the ancient scribal tradition—where people swore by various sacred objects to measure the weight of their honesty, Jesus demands a transparency that renders oaths entirely obsolete. He exposes the underlying spiritual corruption of swearing by external things, reminding His listeners that heaven, earth, Jerusalem, and even a person’s own head are completely under sovereign divine ownership, far beyond human manipulation. Christ establishes a direct, uncompromising standard for the language of the Kingdom: authentic righteousness requires an economy of speech where a simple affirmation or denial carries absolute, unshakeable weight. He unmasks the deeper demonic reality behind excessive verbal validation, warning that anything beyond a plain, integrated “Yes” or “No” originates from the Evil One, as it implicitly admits that our unembellished word cannot be trusted.
The First Reading provides a historical, dramatic manifestation of this immediate, unreserved truth, revealing The Complete Destruction of Past Security and the Absolute Commitment to Prophetic Succession. On the dusty agricultural plains, the prophetic call crosses paths with Elisha, son of Shaphat, as he commands a massive wealth of twelve yoke of oxen. When Elijah silently walks past and throws his prophetic cloak over him, Elisha instantly grasps the heavy weight of this divine interruption. Requesting only a brief moment to kiss his parents goodbye, he receives a testing, detached response from his master, prompting an immediate act of radical detachment. Elisha does not look back or attempt to retain a financial fallback option; instead, he completely burns the bridges to his old livelihood, slaughtering his valuable oxen and utilizing his wooden plowing equipment as fuel to boil the meat for his community. By feeding his people and walking away empty-handed to become Elijah’s servant, he transforms a sudden call into a decisive, irreversible “Yes” to the divine covenant.
The Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 16) functions as the profound interior anthem behind this total surrender, singing: “You are my inheritance, O Lord.” It captures the deep spirit of a soul that has completely abandoned earthly fallback options to declare that the Lord alone is its allotted portion, cup, and secure refuge. The text highlights a life of complete spiritual alignment where God’s counsel directs the mind even through the dark nights of trial, ensuring that with the Lord firmly positioned at our right hand, we will never be permanently shaken. This complete trust frees the soul from anxiety and allows the physical body to rest in confident security, knowing that God will never abandon His faithful ones to the corruption of the grave.
As we step into our conversations and obligations today, let us examine the transparency of our commitments. Reflect today: In what areas of your life are you still utilizing half-truths, exaggerated speech, or careful omissions to protect your reputation or dodge difficult consequences? Are you currently clinging to comfort zones or financial fallback options that prevent you from giving an unreserved, wholehearted “Yes” to God’s calling? Do your daily conversations reflect the crystal-clear transparency of the Kingdom, or do you require elaborate promises to convince others and yourself of your honesty?
Let us pray: Lord Jesus Christ, You are the absolute Truth and the unembellished Word of the Father, who calls us to a life of crystal-clear integrity and uncompromised speech. Forgive us for the times we have manipulated our words, worn deceitful masks, or offered half-truths to fit into our culture. Grant us the radical courage and detachment of the prophet Elisha, that we may willingly burn the bridges to our past security and follow Your call without looking back. Cleanse our lips and hearts of all duplicity, that our “Yes” may truly mean “Yes” and our “No” mean “No.” Be our only portion, our cup, and our secure inheritance this day, counseling us through every hidden trial. Keep our souls safe in Your presence and guide our footsteps along the path of life, where fullness of joy rests forever at Your right hand. You who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. 🙏🏽

SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA, PRIEST AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH: Saint Anthony of Padua (1195–1231 A.D.), born Fernando de Bouillon to a noble military family in Lisbon, Portugal, was an eminent Franciscan friar, a towering biblical scholar, and one of the most widely venerated saints in Christian history. Initially joining the Augustinian Canons Regular at age fifteen to immerse himself in Scripture, his life was permanently altered in 1220 when the bodies of the first Franciscan martyrs slain in Morocco were brought to Portugal. Ablaze with a desire for martyrdom, he joined the newly founded Order of Friars Minor, taking the name Anthony, but a severe illness in Morocco and a violent storm at sea ultimately diverted his path to Italy. There, he completely concealed his profound theological genius to work as a humble kitchen assistant until 1224, when a sudden opening at an ordination ceremony forced him to preach without preparation, stunning the assembly with his extraordinary eloquence and scriptural depth. Commissioned by Saint Francis of Assisi to teach and preach across Italy and France, Anthony drew crowds exceeding thirty thousand people, earning the title “Hammer of Heretics” for his unyielding defense of Catholic dogma, which he confirmed with spectacular miracles—including a starving horse that left its food to adore the Holy Eucharist, and a school of fish that rose from the water to hear his voice. He spent his final years transforming the city of Padua through bold social reforms and defense of the poor, and during a stay in Limoges, his host secretly witnessed him enveloped in celestial light while tenderly holding the Infant Jesus in his arms. Exhausted by his grueling apostolic travels, he died at the young age of thirty-six at Arcella after praying the penitential psalms, leaving behind a legacy that moved Pope Gregory IX to canonize him within a single year and Pope Pius XII to declare him the “Evangelical Doctor” of the Church.
PRAYER: Almighty ever-living God, You gave Your people the extraordinary preacher Saint Anthony of Padua and made him a powerful intercessor in all times of difficulty and loss. By his aid and celestial intercession, grant that we may live a truly Christian life, recover what we have lost through sin, and experience Your sovereign help and consolation in all human adversities. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽
HONORING THE SAINTS OF THE DAY:
As we draw immense joy and inspiration today from the profound preaching, wisdom, and gentle intercession of Saint Anthony of Padua, the “Evangelical Doctor,” we also turn our hearts to the entire holy assembly sharing this June 13th feast day. Today, we prayerfully honor and remember SAINT AQUILINA, SAINT AUGUSTINE OF HUY, SAINT DAMHNADE, SAINT FELICULA, SAINTS FORTUNATUS & LUCIAN, SAINT GYAVIRE, SAINT PEREGRINUS, SAINT RAMBERT, AND SAINT TRIPHYLLIUS. Spanning across different eras and cultures, from young, courageous witnesses of the early Church who stood unbroken in their faith to holy hermits and dedicated shepherds, their diverse lives all beautifully reflect the multifaceted grace of God. Remembering them reminds us that we are supported by an incredibly vast family of faith, encouraging us to boldly share Christ’s love and truth in our own daily circles today.

PRAYER INTENTION: FOR THE RECOVERY OF SPIRITUAL LOSSES, DIVINE RESTORATION, AND EVANGELICAL INTEGRITY
On this Memorial of Saint Anthony of Padua, we lift our hearts to You, O Lord, our secure refuge and our only true inheritance. We thank You for the gift of this holy teacher who sacrificed his noble titles and comfort to carry the easy yoke of Your Gospel. Deliver us from the tragic losses of the soul, the loss of fervent faith, the loss of inner peace, and the loss of radical commitment to Your call. We bring before You all those who are navigating painful losses in this life, the poor, the destitute, and single women who are seeking life partners, trusting that Your kindness is ever-present to crown them with compassion. Through the powerful intercession of Saint Anthony of Padua (the Evangelical Doctor, Patron of the poor and finder of lost things), grant us the grace of absolute honesty and transparency, that our words may be free from all duplicity and our “Yes” may truly mean “Yes.” Give us the courage to burn the bridges of past security, to hold fast to Your decrees, and to adore the Holy Eucharist with our whole being. Restore whatever we have lost through sin, heal our infirmities, and make our families true centers of love and reconciliation, keeping our souls entirely clean before Your heavenly altar. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

DEVOTION OF THE MONTH OF JUNE | MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS: June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a powerful sign of Christ’s love and mercy. His Heart, pierced and crowned with thorns, burns with compassion for all humanity. This devotion calls us to return love for love to console His Heart and make reparation for sin and indifference. Rooted in the revelations to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, the Church invites us this month to deepen our trust in Jesus, especially through First Friday devotions, the Litany of the Sacred Heart, and acts of consecration. His words echo in our hearts: “Learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart” (Matthew 11:29).
The Sacred Heart shows us what true love looks like patient, humble, and self-giving. In a world often cold and restless, we find peace and healing in His Heart.
“Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You”
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, teach us to love as You love. Fill our hearts with compassion, mercy, and a deep desire to follow You. Amen 🙏🏽

PRAYER FOR THE DEAD
We pray for the repose of the gentle souls of our loved ones and souls of all the faithful departed. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their gentle souls through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen 🙏🏽
Thanking God for His love and the gift of this glorious day, we offer Him a prayer of gratitude for the graces of the past months and entrust this month of June to His loving providence. We pray for God’s grace and mercy as we anchor ourselves in the steady, life-giving rhythm of Ordinary Time. May the profound mysteries of the Resurrection, the Ascension, and the fresh fire of the Holy Spirit, which we have so beautifully celebrated, continue to help us seek You in every moment of our lives. May the peace, hope, and divine communion that flow from the Most Holy Trinity shape our steps, inform our decisions, and strengthen our resolve to live each day in the light of Christ and the daily guidance of the Advocate. As we journey onward through the rest of this month, may God bless our families and loved ones, and may His light continue to shine brightly in every home. Let us draw closer to God and be renewed through the joy of the Gospel, the gifts of the Spirit, and generosity to the poor. May God keep us all safe and well during these challenging times. Wishing us all a spiritually enriching, most blessed, and grace-filled journey ahead. Amen. 🙏🏽
