Day Nineteen of Lent: Remembering God’s Faithfulness
(Wednesday, Third Week of Lent)

Scripture Passage:
“Take care, and be on your guard… not to forget the things which your own eyes have seen.” (Deuteronomy 4:9)

We have begun the journey of repentance.
We have trusted God through trials.
We have learned to surrender to His will.

Today Lent invites us to remember the faithfulness of God.

Meditative Reflection

In the rush of daily life, it is easy to forget how often God has already guided and sustained us.

Throughout the history of Israel, God repeatedly urged His people to remember His mighty works. They were called to recall their deliverance from slavery, the ways He provided for them in the wilderness, and the countless moments when His presence saved them from despair. Memory is not simply looking back. In the spiritual life, remembering becomes a source of strength. When we forget God’s goodness, fear and doubt easily take root. We begin to believe that we face life’s struggles alone. But when we pause to remember how God has already been present in our lives, our faith grows stronger. Many of us can look back and recognize moments when God quietly carried us through difficulties we once thought unbearable. At the time, the path seemed uncertain. Yet with distance and reflection, we begin to see how grace was working even then. Lent invites us to slow down and remember. Remember the prayers that were answered. Remember the strength that came when we felt weak. Remember the ways God opened doors when none seemed possible. These memories are not meant to remain private. Just as the Israelites were instructed to pass on the story of God’s faithfulness to their children, we too are called to share the testimony of His goodness with others. The question for today gently invites reflection: Do I take time to remember the ways God has been faithful in my life?

Reflection Questions

How often do I pause to reflect on the blessings God has given me?
Can I recall moments when God sustained me during difficult times?
How can I share the story of God’s faithfulness with others?

Lenten Question

Q: Why does Scripture frequently call God’s people to remember His works?
A: Remembering God’s actions strengthens faith and deepens gratitude. When we recall how He has guided and protected us in the past, we learn to trust Him more fully in the present and the future.

Lenten Action

Take a few moments today to reflect on three specific ways God has blessed or guided you in the past year. Write them down and offer a prayer of thanksgiving.

Prayer

Faithful Lord, You have guided me through many moments of joy and struggle. Help me never to forget the ways You have sustained me. Strengthen my faith by reminding me of Your constant presence, and help me to share the story of Your goodness with others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽
