PRAYER FOR POPE LEO XIV

O God, shepherd and ruler of all the faithful, look favorably on your servant Leo, whom you have set at the head of your Church as her shepherd; grant, we pray, that by word and example he may be of service to those over whom he presides so that, together with the flock entrusted to his care, he may come to everlasting life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen πŸ™πŸ½

We Love You, Pope Leo XIV!πŸ™πŸ½πŸ€

Brief Biography of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV

Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost, was born on September 14, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. A member of the Order of Saint Augustine (O.S.A.), he entered the Augustinian novitiate in 1977, made his solemn profession in 1981, and was ordained to the priesthood on June 19, 1982.

He earned a degree in Mathematics from Villanova University and later pursued theological and Canon Law studies, obtaining a doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome.

Much of his priestly and missionary ministry was devoted to the Church in Peru, where he served in several pastoral and formation roles. He later served as Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine for two terms, from 2001 to 2013.

In 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Chiclayo, Peru, and he was ordained a bishop on December 12, 2014. He subsequently became Bishop of Chiclayo.

In 2023, Pope Francis appointed him Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America. He was created a Cardinal on September 30, 2023.

On May 8, 2025, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected the 267th Pope of the Catholic Church, taking the name Leo XIV. His election was historic: he became the first Pope from the United States of America and the first Augustinian Pope in the history of the Church.

His episcopal motto, β€œIn Illo Uno Unum” β€” β€œIn the One, we are one” β€” reflects the spirituality of Saint Augustine and the unity of Christians in Christ.

As Pope Leo XIV continues his Petrine ministry, the faithful throughout the world pray that Almighty God will grant him wisdom, strength, good health, and abundant grace as he shepherds the universal Church.

Happy 71st Birthday, Holy Father! Ad multos annos! πŸ™πŸ½βœοΈ
