Greetings and blessings, beloved family!
Today the Church celebrates the Tuesday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time, alongside the Memorial of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, Virgin, and Saint Francis Solano, Priest. Today’s liturgy calls us to deep conversion and unshakeable trust: in the Gospel, Jesus reproaches Chorazin and Capernaum for their spiritual indifference despite witnessing His miracles, while in the First Reading, Isaiah reminds King Ahaz that “Unless your faith is firm, you shall not be firm!” Inspired by Saint Kateri, who endured persecution to live a life of total devotion to Christ, and Saint Francis Solano, who fearlessly brought the Gospel and healing to South America, let us reject spiritual complacency, stand firm in faith, and offer Christ an undivided heart today.

Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time | USCCB | https://bible.usccb.org/daily-bible-reading
Today’s Bible Readings for Tuesday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time | July 14, 2026
Reading 1: Isaiah 7:1-9
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 48:2-3a, 3b-4, 5-6, 7-8
Gospel: Matthew 11:20-24
Gospel Reading ~ Matthew 11:20-24
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes.”
“Jesus began to reproach the towns where most of his mighty deeds had been done, since they had not repented. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum: Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the nether world. For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.””
SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS
In today’s Gospel, Jesus issues a sharp and sobering warning against the danger of spiritual complacency, familiar religious exposure, and unrepentant hearts. Speaking directly to Chorazin, Bethsaida, and His own adopted home town of Capernaum, Christ reproaches them not because they openly attacked Him, but because they witnessed His miraculous powers, heard His divine teachings, and yet remained completely indifferent. They received the immense privilege of God’s presence walking in their streets, yet their hearts remained unmoved, hardened, and unchanged. Jesus compares these favored towns to the notoriously pagan cities of Tyre, Sidon, and Sodom, declaring that even those infamous places would have repented in sackcloth and ashes had they seen such divine manifestations. This passage serves as a severe reminder that greater spiritual light brings greater spiritual responsibility, and that passive familiarity with the sacred can blind us to our own urgent need for personal conversion.
According to the Gospel, true faith requires a dynamic response of repentance, humility, and ongoing transformation. It is dangerously easy to take God’s grace for granted, assuming that our presence in church, our routine prayers, or our proximity to holy things automatically guarantees spiritual health. The people of Capernaum felt exalted by Christ’s presence, yet their pride prevented them from allowing His miracles to break their hearts open to true repentance. This Gospel challenges us to examine how we respond to the “mighty deeds” God works in our lives every single day. Are we growing cold or comfortable in our faith, treating God’s mercy as something owed to us rather than an awe-inspiring gift? Jesus reminds us that spiritual privilege without heartfelt conversion leads to judgment, calling us to shake off indifference and allow His truth to daily reshape our desires, attitudes, and actions.
In the first reading, the prophet Isaiah confronts King Ahaz during a time of national crisis, delivering a message on the absolute necessity of radical, unwavering trust in God over human fear and political maneuvering. When the house of David learns that Aram and Ephraim have joined forces to attack Jerusalem, the king and his people tremble like trees shaking in a fierce forest wind. Yet, God sends Isaiah to meet Ahaz with a reassuring directive: “Take care you remain tranquil and do not fear; let not your courage fail before these two stumps of smoldering brands.” God promises that the terrifying plots of their enemies will not stand, making the ultimate outcome depend on one crucial condition: “Unless your faith is firm, you shall not be firm!”
The Responsorial Psalm proclaims: “God upholds his city for ever.” This psalm beautifully reinforces Isaiah’s message, praising Mount Zion as the city of the great King where God is renowned as a stronghold. It depicts earthly kings assembling in hostile power, only to be stunned, terrified, and routed at the mere sight of God’s holy presence, reassuring us that no human alliance or earthly crisis can overturn the sovereign protection of our Heavenly Father.
Reflecting on the Sacred Scriptures today, we are invited to audit the firmness of our trust and the sincerity of our repentance. Are you currently facing overwhelming threats, anxieties, or life pressures that cause your heart to tremble like trees in the wind, forgetting that God holds your ultimate protection in His hands? Have you allowed your daily walk with Christ to become a casual routine, enjoying His blessings without allowing His Word to correct and purify your heart? Let us cast away all spiritual apathy, pride, and earthly panic today. May we turn back to the Lord in sincere repentance, stand firm in unshakeable faith, and recognize the quiet, mighty deeds He continues to work in our lives.
Lord Jesus, forgive us for the times we have taken Your incredible grace and miracles for granted, allowing our hearts to become lukewarm and indifferent. Stir within us a spirit of true repentance, so that we may never remain passive in the light of Your truth. When trials and fears arise that make our hearts tremble, grant us the grace to stand firm in faith, trusting that You alone are our unshakeable stronghold and protector. Amen. 🙏🏽

SAINT KATERI TEKAKWITHA, VIRGIN: Born in 1656 near present-day Auriesville, New York, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha was the daughter of a Mohawk chief and a Christian Algonquin mother. At age four, she survived a smallpox epidemic that claimed her family and left her face disfigured and her eyesight impaired. Raised by relatives hostile to Christianity, she was drawn to the faith through the witness of Jesuit missionaries and was baptized at age twenty, taking the name “Catherine” (Kateri in her Mohawk dialect). Her conversion brought persecution from her community, and she eventually fled over 200 miles on foot to a Christian Mohawk settlement near Montreal.
In her new home, Kateri devoted herself to prayer, penance, and charity. She took a private vow of virginity unheard of among her people and lived with great humility, often praying in the woods for long hours. Despite her fragile health, she fasted and offered suffering for the conversion of her people. Known for her mystical union with Christ and radiant holiness, Kateri died at age 24 on April 17, 1680. Witnesses reported that her facial scars vanished moments after death, revealing her beauty and peace. She was canonized in 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI and is the patroness of Native Americans, ecology, and people persecuted for their faith.
PRAYER: Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, brave virgin of the Mohawk people, pray for us to have hearts as pure, faith as strong, and love as courageous as yours. May we, like you, seek Jesus in silence, simplicity, and suffering, and find joy in belonging entirely to Him. Amen. 🙏🏽
SAINT FRANCIS SOLANO, PRIEST: Saint Francis Solano was born in 1549 in Andalusia, Spain, and entered the Franciscan Order at age twenty. After years of ministry in Spain, he was sent as a missionary to South America in 1589. Surviving a shipwreck, he chose to stay on board with the vulnerable passengers rather than escape with the elite—an act that revealed his deep compassion and trust in God. In Peru, he preached tirelessly in villages and remote lands, winning the hearts of thousands of indigenous people. He was known for his gift of tongues, working miracles, healing the sick, and converting souls through his love and holiness.
Though he served among simple and often rejected communities, Saint Francis also preached in the bustling streets of Lima, confronting sin with humility and truth. He lived a life of austerity, joy, and constant service, dying in 1610 with the words “God be praised” on his lips. Canonized in 1726, he is the patron saint of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, and Peru, as well as Franciscan missions.
PRAYER: Saint Francis Solano, missionary of peace and herald of the Gospel, teach us to love the forgotten, serve with humility, and proclaim Christ with joy. May your zeal for souls and compassion for the poor inspire us to bring the love of Jesus to every heart. Amen. 🙏🏽

HONORING THE SAINTS OF THE DAY:
As we draw deep inspiration today from the gentle, radiant purity of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha and the joyful, tireless missionary zeal of Saint Francis Solano, we also turn our hearts to the rest of the holy assembly sharing this July 14th feast day. Today, we prayerfully honor and remember SAINT CYRUS OF CARTHAGE, SAINT HERACLAS, BLESSED HUMBERT OF ROMANS, BLESSED HUMBERT, SAINT JUSTUS, SAINT LIBERT, SAINT NICODEMUS OF THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, SAINT OPTATIAN, SAINT PROCOPIUS OF SÁZAVA, BLESSED RICHARD LANGHORNE, SAINT ULRICH, AND SAINT WILLIAM BRETEUIL. Spanning across centuries, from early African bishops and dedicated theologians to courageous English martyrs and pioneering monastic founders, their diverse lives all beautifully reflect the multifaceted grace of God. Remembering them reminds us that we are supported by an incredibly vast family of faith, encouraging us to follow their example and walk our own path toward holiness with confidence today.
PRAYER INTENTION: DEEP REPENTANCE, UNWAVERING FAITH, AND HEALING MERCY
Heavenly Father, You call us out of spiritual indifference into the fullness of Your saving truth. As we lay our daily struggles, academic endeavors, and intentions at Your feet today, grant us the grace to shake off all complacency and stand firm in faith whenever fear or trial threatens our peace. Through the powerful intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary and the holy saints we commemorate on this feast day, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha (Patron of ecology, Native Americans, environmentalists, people in exile, those who have lost parents, and those persecuted for their faith) and Saint Francis Solano (Patron of South America, Franciscan missions, and preacher of reconciliation), we humbly bring our petitions before You. We pray for all those who have lost their parents, children, or loved ones, asking that You wrap them in Your divine consolation. We pray for families facing deep difficulties, financial strain, or emotional distress during these challenging times, begging for peace, love, and unity in our homes. Lord, extend Your compassionate touch to the poor, the rejected, and the needy. We pray for the sick and dying, especially those suffering from cancer, smallpox-like afflictions, and other terminal or lingering diseases; grant them relief, strength, and physical healing. We continue to pray for the Universal Church, the Clergy, persecuted Christians facing hostility for their faith, and for the conversion of hardened sinners everywhere. May Your grace break every barrier, so that all hearts may know Your mercy and proclaim Your praise. Amen. 🙏🏽

THE POPE’S MONTHLY INTENTIONS FOR 2026: FOR THE MONTH OF JULY: For respect for human life. Let us pray for the respect and protection of human life in all its stages, recognizing it as a gift from God.

DEVOTION OF THE MONTH OF JULY | MONTH OF THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS: July is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ a profound devotion that honors the redeeming power of Christ’s Blood shed for our salvation. Flowing from His Sacred Heart, this Blood is the price of our redemption, the source of grace in the sacraments, and the seal of the New Covenant. It reminds us that salvation was not won lightly, but through the ultimate sacrifice of love. This month, the Church invites us to meditate on the infinite value of Christ’s Blood poured out during His Passion from Gethsemane to Calvary and in every celebration of the Holy Eucharist. We are called to offer acts of reparation for the sins of the world and to intercede for the conversion of souls. Devotions such as the Litany of the Precious Blood, the Chaplet of the Precious Blood, and daily consecration to the Precious Blood help deepen our union with Christ crucified.
As Saint John Chrysostom once said, “The Precious Blood is the salvation of souls; it purifies, sanctifies, and strengthens.” In our trials, let us take refuge beneath the cross, trusting in the Blood that speaks of mercy, victory, and eternal life.
“Precious Blood of Jesus, save us and the whole world.”
O Most Precious Blood of Jesus, fountain of salvation, we adore You. Wash us clean of sin, protect us from evil, and draw us into deeper love and union with You. Amen. 🙏🏽

PRAYER FOR THE DEAD
We pray for the repose of the gentle souls of our loved ones and souls of all the faithful departed. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their gentle souls through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen 🙏🏽
Thanking God for His love and the gift of this glorious day, we offer Him a prayer of gratitude for the graces of the past months and entrust this month of July to His loving providence. We pray for God’s grace and mercy as we anchor ourselves in the steady, life-giving rhythm of Ordinary Time. May the profound mysteries of the Cross, the cleansing power of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, and the enduring fire of the Holy Spirit continue to help us seek You in every moment of our lives. May the peace, hope, and divine communion that flow from the Heart of our Redeemer shape our steps, inform our decisions, and strengthen our resolve to live each day in the light of Christ and the daily guidance of the Advocate. As we journey onward through the rest of this month, may God bless our families and loved ones, and may His light continue to shine brightly in every home. Let us draw closer to God and be renewed through the joy of the Gospel, the gifts of the Spirit, and generosity to the poor. May God keep us all safe and well during these challenging times. Wishing us all a spiritually enriching, most blessed, and grace-filled journey ahead. Amen. 🙏🏽
