Greetings and blessings, beloved family!
As we enter this Wednesday of the Third Week of Lent, the Church calls us to a deeper reverence for the Divine Law, not as a set of cold restrictions, but as a living gift of “wisdom and intelligence.” In today’s Gospel, Jesus makes it clear that He has not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it, inviting us to an obedience that moves beyond the letter of the law to a transformation of the heart. This theme is prefigured in the First Reading from Deuteronomy, where Moses exhorts the people to be “earnestly on our guard” never to forget the things their eyes have seen and to pass the statutes of the Lord down to their children’s children. Today, we are accompanied by two great guardians of the Faith: Saint Eulogius of Cordoba, who encouraged his fellow Christians to remain faithful unto death under persecution, and Saint Sophronius of Jerusalem, who defended the true nature of Christ against heresy even as his city faced siege. As we pray that the Lord’s words may be “Spirit and life” for us today, let us ask for the grace to cherish every “small letter” of His Word, trusting that in following Him, we find a God who is intimately close to us whenever we call upon Him. Amen. 🙏🏽

LENTEN REFLECTION
DAY 19: LENTEN PRAYERS AND REFLECTIONS 2026 | https://dailyreflectionswithphilomena.com/day-19-lenten-prayers-and-reflections-2026/
Day Nineteen of Lent: Remembering God’s Faithfulness
(Wednesday, Third Week of Lent)
Scripture Passage:
“Take care, and be on your guard… not to forget the things which your own eyes have seen.” (Deuteronomy 4:9)
We have begun the journey of repentance.
We have trusted God through trials.
We have learned to surrender to His will.
Today Lent invites us to remember the faithfulness of God.
Meditative Reflection
In the rush of daily life, it is easy to forget how often God has already guided and sustained us.
Throughout the history of Israel, God repeatedly urged His people to remember His mighty works. They were called to recall their deliverance from slavery, the ways He provided for them in the wilderness, and the countless moments when His presence saved them from despair. Memory is not simply looking back. In the spiritual life, remembering becomes a source of strength. When we forget God’s goodness, fear and doubt easily take root. We begin to believe that we face life’s struggles alone. But when we pause to remember how God has already been present in our lives, our faith grows stronger. Many of us can look back and recognize moments when God quietly carried us through difficulties we once thought unbearable. At the time, the path seemed uncertain. Yet with distance and reflection, we begin to see how grace was working even then. Lent invites us to slow down and remember. Remember the prayers that were answered. Remember the strength that came when we felt weak. Remember the ways God opened doors when none seemed possible. These memories are not meant to remain private. Just as the Israelites were instructed to pass on the story of God’s faithfulness to their children, we too are called to share the testimony of His goodness with others. The question for today gently invites reflection: Do I take time to remember the ways God has been faithful in my life?
Reflection Questions
How often do I pause to reflect on the blessings God has given me?
Can I recall moments when God sustained me during difficult times?
How can I share the story of God’s faithfulness with others?
Lenten Question
Q: Why does Scripture frequently call God’s people to remember His works?
A: Remembering God’s actions strengthens faith and deepens gratitude. When we recall how He has guided and protected us in the past, we learn to trust Him more fully in the present and the future.
Lenten Action
Take a few moments today to reflect on three specific ways God has blessed or guided you in the past year. Write them down and offer a prayer of thanksgiving.
Prayer
Faithful Lord, You have guided me through many moments of joy and struggle. Help me never to forget the ways You have sustained me. Strengthen my faith by reminding me of Your constant presence, and help me to share the story of Your goodness with others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

BIBLE READINGS FOR TODAY’S HOLY MASS:
Third Week of Lent | USCCB | https://bible.usccb.org/daily-bible-reading
Today’s Bible Readings: Wednesday of the Third Week of Lent | March 11, 2026
Reading I: Deuteronomy 4:1, 5–9
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 147:12–13, 15–16, 19–20
Gospel: Matthew 5:17–19
Gospel Reading ~ Matthew 5:17–19
“I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.”
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”
SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS
In the Gospel, Jesus clarifies His relationship with the Old Covenant, ensuring His disciples understand that His new teaching is the completion, not the destruction, of God’s ancient Word. When He speaks of “fulfilling” the law, He is moving us from a mere outward observance of rules to an inward transformation of the heart. For Jesus, even the “smallest letter” of the law matters because every commandment is an expression of God’s love. In the context of Lent, this reminds us that our small sacrifices and daily fidelities are the building blocks of greatness in the Kingdom of Heaven. Obedience is not about rigid legalism, but about a loving response to a God who has first loved us.
As we continue our Lenten journey, we are called to be “earnestly on our guard,” as the First Reading from Deuteronomy suggests, not to forget the wonders God has done for us. Moses reminds the people that their wisdom lies in their proximity to God no other nation has a God “so close to it” as the Lord. Our Lenten disciplines are meant to sharpen our memory and keep us close to this Divine Presence. When we follow the “statutes and decrees” with a sincere heart, we become a light to the nations, showing that the path of the Gospel is the path to true intelligence and peace.
The First Reading from Deuteronomy invites us to a profound sense of gratitude for the Law. Moses speaks to an Israel about to enter the Promised Land, emphasizing that the Law is their life and their wisdom. It is a gift that distinguishes them from all other peoples, because it provides a clear path to favor with the Lord. However, the warning is stern: “do not let them slip from your memory.” In our modern world, it is easy to let the truths of our faith fade into the background. Lent is the time to teach these truths again to our children and “children’s children,” ensuring that the covenant remains a living reality in our families.
The Responsorial Psalm, Psalm 147, echoes this gratitude: “Praise the Lord, Jerusalem.” It celebrates a God who not only commands the frost and the snow but also intimately reveals His ordinances to His people. We praise God because He has “strengthened the bars of our gates” and “blessed our children.” This psalm reminds us that the Word of God “runs swiftly” to heal and protect us. As we pray this psalm today, let us recognize that being given the Law and the Gospel is a unique privilege that requires a response of joyful praise and faithful obedience.
These readings together call us to a renewed reverence for the Word of God. We are challenged to look at the commandments not as restrictions on our freedom, but as the very guardrails that keep us on the path to eternal life. Lent is our opportunity to align our lives more perfectly with “not the smallest letter” of God’s will, so that His Spirit and life may flow through us.
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, Your words are Spirit and Life. Help us to cherish Your commandments and to find in them the path to true wisdom. Grant us the grace to be “earnestly on our guard” against the forgetfulness of the world. May we not only obey Your laws but teach them through the joy of our lives, that we may be called great in Your Kingdom. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

Direct link to the detailed history of Saint Eulogius, and Saint Sophronius | https://dailyreflectionswithphilomena.com/saints-of-the-day-feast-day-march-11th/
SAINT EULOGIUS OF CORDOBA, PRIEST AND MARTYR: Saint Eulogius (d. 859) was a gifted leader and scholar during the Muslim rule of Spain. Known for his profound humility and special charism of encouragement, he spent his life fortifying the hearts of Christians facing execution. While imprisoned, he wrote an “Exhortation to Martyrdom” to young converts, teaching them that no earthly torment could touch a soul anchored in Christ. He was eventually beheaded for sheltering a convert, boldly preaching the Gospel to his judges until the very end. He shows us that the Law of God is not a burden, but a shield of glory.
PRAYER: God of power and mercy, through Your help Saint Eulogius overcame the tortures of his passion. Through his intercession, grant us the courage to be “earnestly on our guard” so that we may never let the truths of our faith slip from our memory. Help us to encourage others in their trials and to remain victorious over the wiles of our enemies. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽
SAINT SOPHRONIUS OF JERUSALEM, BISHOP: Saint Sophronius (c. 560–638) was a monk, philosopher, and the Patriarch of Jerusalem during a time of immense political and theological upheaval. A brilliant defender of orthodox truth, he fought against the Monothelite heresy to protect the reality of Christ’s full humanity and divinity. As an Islamic army besieged Jerusalem, he served as a courageous shepherd, negotiating peace to protect his people while heartbroken over the loss of the Holy City. His life reminds us that God is “so close to us whenever we call upon Him,” even in the midst of worldly defeat.
PRAYER: O God, who strengthened Saint Sophronius to defend the truth of Christ’s divine and human wills, grant that we may always remain faithful to the fullness of the Faith. Help us to stand firm in times of trial and to seek the “wisdom and intelligence” found in Your just decrees. May we always uphold Your truth with courage and love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽
Our Blessed Mother Mary, Saint Eulogius, and Saint Sophronius — pray for us. 🙏🏽
PRAYER INTENTION FOR THE DAY: FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS, THEOLOGIANS, AND THE FAITH OF OUR CHILDREN
Through the intercession of Saint Eulogius of Cordoba (protector of converts) and Saint Sophronius of Jerusalem (defender of the Truth), let us pray for the grace to hold fast to the statutes of the Lord. Lord, we humbly pray for all Christians living under oppression and the threat of martyrdom; grant them the “charism of encouragement” found in Saint Eulogius to strengthen one another and remain victorious over fear. We lift up all priests, theologians, and defenders of the Faith, asking that they may uphold the “Spirit and Life” of Your Word with the same intellectual courage shown by Saint Sophronius. As we reflect on the Law today, we ask for the grace to be “earnestly on our guard” against the forgetfulness of the world. Help us to teach Your just decrees to our children and our “children’s children,” ensuring that the light of the Gospel is never extinguished in our homes. We pray for those suffering from spiritual confusion or terminal illness; may they feel You “so close” whenever they call upon You. May we not only observe the smallest letter of Your Law but live it with such joy that we may be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽

DEVOTION OF THE MONTH OF MARCH: MONTH OF SAINT JOSEPH: The Church dedicates the month of March to Saint Joseph, the humble and faithful guardian of the Redeemer. Though he spoke no recorded words in Scripture, his life preached obedience, courage, responsibility, and silent strength. “His was the title of father of the Son of God, because he was the Spouse of Mary, ever Virgin. He was our Lord’s father, because Jesus yielded to him the obedience of a son. He was our Lord’s father, because to him were entrusted, and by him were faithfully fulfilled, the duties of a father: protecting Him, giving Him a home, sustaining and rearing Him, and providing Him with a trade.” Saint Joseph was entrusted with the greatest treasure Heaven could give Jesus and Mary and he fulfilled that mission with quiet fidelity. He protected the Holy Family in danger, labored diligently to provide for them, and trusted God even when he did not fully understand the divine plan. In this month, we are invited to imitate his virtues: deep trust in God, purity of heart, faithful service, and steadfast responsibility in our own vocations. Like Saint Joseph, may we learn to act with courage, listen in silence, and obey God promptly. May this Month of Saint Joseph strengthen fathers, guide families, protect workers, and inspire all of us to live hidden yet holy lives before God.
Saint Joseph, pray for us. 🙏🏽

PRAYER FOR THE DEAD
We pray for the repose of the gentle souls of our loved ones and souls of all the faithful departed. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their gentle souls through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen 🙏🏽
Thanking God for His love and the gift of this day, we offer Him a prayer of gratitude and entrust the days ahead to His loving providence. We pray for God’s grace and mercy as we continue our spiritual journey. May this Lenten journey help us to seek You in the secret places of our hearts. May the peace, hope, and steady guidance that flow from walking daily with Christ shape our steps, inform our decisions, and strengthen our resolve to live each day in love and holiness. As we journey onward into this new month, may God bless our families and loved ones, and may His light continue to shine brightly in every home. Let us draw closer to God and be renewed through prayer, fasting, penance, and generosity to the poor. May God keep us all safe and well during these challenging times. Wishing us all a reflective, spiritually enriching, most blessed, and grace-filled Lenten Season. Amen 🙏🏽
