Greetings and blessings, beloved family.
Today, Thursday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time, we joyfully thank God for the gift of life and for leading us into the new month of October. May this month bring us God’s blessings, peace, and joy in abundance. We pray for eternal repose of our loved ones who recently passed. May this month bring peace to troubled hearts, direction to the lost, comfort to the grieving, and strength to the weary. In all things, may His will be done and His name be glorified. Amen🙏🏽
Lord Almighty, we lift our hearts in gratitude for Your unfailing love, protection, and mercy that carried us through the past month. We entrust every day into Your hands, asking for Your blessings, guidance, and peace in our lives and families. May October be for us a season of renewed faith, deeper hope, and overflowing joy. We pray especially for all families, for children, parents, and teachers, that they may be strengthened and protected. Bless those who will celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, new opportunities, and milestones this month, and comfort those who enter October with heavy hearts or struggles. Lord, go before us, walk beside us, and remain with us always, now and forever. Amen🙏🏽
Today, we humbly pray for the poor, abandoned, and those in need, for all those who are marginalized in our society. For those who are imprisoned, especially those who are unjustly imprisoned. We pray for charitable organizations, asking God’s blessing upon their mission and we lift our prayers for peace, love, justice and unity in our families, marriages and our world. May God protect us all and keep us safe and united in peace, love and faith. Amen 🙏🏽
Through the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary on this special Feast day, we lift our prayers for the protection, safety and well-being of missionaries, pilots, and all travelers. We ask for healing for the sick and dying, especially those who are suffering from cancers and other terminal diseases, strength for the weary, peace in troubled homes, and provision for all in need. Guide our steps in righteousness, protect us from harm, and fill our hearts with faith, joy, and gratitude. May this month draw us closer to Your will, and may every day be a testimony of Your goodness and mercy in our lives. We begin this month with trust in Your unfailing love, Lord, and we surrender all that lies ahead into Your hands. Amen 🙏🏾
We continue to pray for the Church, the Clergy, our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, the Cardinals, Bishops, all Priests, that they be sanctified in their ministry to God’s people. We pray for persecuted Christians, for the conversion of sinners, and Christians all over the world suffering from political and religious unrest.
Through the intercession of St. Joseph, we pray for all fathers, mothers, workers, and all those who labor in this world. May the Lord bless the work of their hands, and may God’s grace and mercy be with us all during this season of Ordinary Time. Wishing us all and our loved ones a joyful, peaceful, and grace-filled month of October. 🙏🏽
We remember in prayer all who began this journey of life with us but are no longer here. We pray for the gentle repose of the souls of our loved ones who recently passed away, and we continue to pray for the souls in Purgatory; lost souls. For the repose of the souls of all the faithful departed, may the Lord receive them into the light of Eternal Kingdom.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” ~ Matthew 5:4
PRAYER FOR THE DEAD: In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life, you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil, and bid them eternal rest. The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen🙏🏽
“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His Saints.” ~ Psalm 116:15
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their gentle souls through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus Christ… Amen 🙏🏽 ✝️🕯✝️🕯✝️🕯

Today’s Bible Readings: Thursday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time | October 9, 2025
Reading 1: Malachi 3:13–20b
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 1:1–2, 3, 4 and 6
Gospel: Luke 11:5–13
Gospel Reading ~ Luke 11:5–13
“Ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
“Jesus said to his disciples: “Suppose one of you has a friend to whom he goes at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey and I have nothing to offer him,’ and he says in reply from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been locked and my children and I are already in bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.’ I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves because of their friendship, he will get up to give him whatever he needs because of his persistence. “And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. What father among you would hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish? Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg? If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”
In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites His disciples and us into a relationship of trusting persistence with the Father. Through the parable of the midnight visitor, He teaches that prayer is not about mechanical repetition but about a heart that refuses to give up on God. The friend who knocks is not driven by entitlement but by need. His persistence does not weary the friend; rather, it moves him to respond. In the same way, our persistent prayers move us deeper into faith, revealing a God who listens not reluctantly, but lovingly. Jesus’ words, ‘Ask (keep on asking)… search (keep on searching)… knock (keep on knocking)…’. He promises that our prayer of petition will always be answered, ‘It will be given to you… you will find… the door will be opened to you’. It often seems as if our prayers of petition are not answered. However, the Lord assures us in the Gospel reading that no prayer of petition goes unanswered. “Ask, seek, knock,” are not commands born of frustration, but promises rooted in divine generosity. God is not distant or indifferent; He is a Father whose heart is open to His children. When Jesus compares the Father’s generosity to that of human parents, He draws a beautiful contrast. Even flawed human beings delight in giving good gifts to their children, how much more then does our heavenly Father give not just what we ask, but what we truly need, the gift of the Holy Spirit. Every prayer that flows from our hearts is heard, even when the answer seems delayed or different from what we expect. Persistent prayer does not change God’s mind; it changes our hearts, teaching us dependence, patience, and faith. In our world of instant gratification, Jesus’ teaching on persistence challenges us to rediscover the importance of endurance in prayer. Sometimes we ask, and heaven seems silent. Yet, in that silence, God is working. He may not open the door immediately, but He strengthens our hands to keep knocking. Every unanswered prayer is a hidden conversation between divine wisdom and human longing, a dialogue that purifies our desires until they align with His will. True faith perseveres not because God is slow to respond, but because we believe His timing and purpose are perfect.
Prayer has various forms, such as the prayer of petition, the prayer of thanksgiving, the prayer of praise, the prayer of contrition, the prayer of surrender. It is probably true to say that the prayer that comes most naturally to us is the prayer of petition. If we reflect on our prayer life, we will likely find that the prayer of petition, the prayer of asking God for help of some kind, is very much to the fore. In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus encourages us to keep praying the prayer of petition, ‘Keep on asking…. Keep on searching…. Keep on knocking…’ So often we pray out of our need. We recognize some need, some lack, in ourselves that we sense only God can supply and fill. Perhaps we are not always sure, however, what to be praying for, what to be asking for. Today’s Gospel reading comes immediately after the giving of the Lord’s Prayer by Jesus to his disciples. That prayer is really a teaching on what we need to be praying for. The Lord’s Prayer is a succession of short prayers of petition, with the first three petitions focusing on God, and the last four focusing on ourselves. All of our prayers of petition need to be shaped in some way by the petitions of the Lord’s Prayer. In the final verse of today’s Gospel reading, Jesus suggests something else we need to ask for, search for. We need to keep on praying for the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives. One of the great prayers of petition for every believer is the simple prayer, ‘Come, Holy Spirit’. St. Paul speaks of God who gives us the Spirit freely. Our prayer of petition opens us up to receive this free gift of the Spirit more fully. Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans says ‘the Spirit helps us in our weakness’. In response to our prayer of petition we can be assured of receiving the help of the Holy Spirit to strengthen us in our need and to empower us to strengthen others in their need. In the strength of the Spirit we can then make our own the words of St. Paul in his letter to the Philippians, ‘I can do all things in Him who strengthens me’.
In the first reading, the prophet Malachi confronts those who have grown weary in faith, questioning whether serving God truly makes a difference. Many had begun to think that evil prospers while righteousness goes unrewarded. But God assures them that He is not blind to their faithfulness, a “record book” is written for those who fear His name. He promises that a day of justice will come when the proud and the wicked will be like stubble, but those who revere His name will see “the sun of justice rise with healing rays.” Malachi’s message speaks directly to anyone who has ever wondered whether their prayers or sacrifices matter. When we are faithful amid discouragement, God sees. The apparent triumph of evil is temporary; the reward of righteousness is eternal. The “sun of justice”, a title often applied to Christ, shines upon those who persist in hope, bringing warmth and healing where there was once bitterness and doubt.
The Responsorial Psalm continues this theme beautifully: “Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.” Like a tree planted beside running water, those who trust in God remain rooted even in times of drought. They bear fruit in season and are sustained by the living water of grace. The Psalm contrasts this with the fate of the wicked, who are like chaff blown away by the wind, shallow, rootless, and fleeting. To meditate on God’s law day and night is to be anchored in His presence, drawing strength and nourishment from His Word.
As we reflect on the words of the Sacred Scriptures today, we might ask ourselves: Do I approach God with confident persistence, or do I give up too quickly when my prayers seem unanswered? Have I allowed impatience or discouragement to weaken my trust in His goodness? Do I live like the blessed man in the psalm, rooted in faith and nourished by God’s Word, or do I sometimes drift like chaff in the winds of worldly doubt? Am I patient enough to let God’s timing unfold, believing that His plans are always for my good? Beloved in Christ, today’s message is clear: persistence in prayer is not an act of stubbornness but of faith. Like the friend at midnight, we must keep knocking, trusting that our Father’s door is never truly closed. Even when His answer seems delayed, His heart is attentive. Let us be among those who “fear the Lord and trust in His name,” confident that in due season, the sun of justice will rise upon us with healing in its wings. May God in His infinite grace and mercy, grant us His grace and may our hearts remain steadfast in faith, our hands lifted in prayer, and our spirits nourished by His Word until every door we knock on in faith is opened according to His divine will. 🙏🏽
Heavenly Father, You are ever faithful and full of compassion for those who fear Your name. Grant us the grace to remain steadfast in trust and perseverance, even when Your ways seem hidden from us. Teach us, Lord, to pray with confidence, to seek You with sincerity, and to knock with faith that never gives up. When discouragement whispers that serving You is in vain, remind us of Your promise, that the righteous shall shine like the sun of justice with healing rays. Kindle in us a spirit of persistence in prayer, that we may never tire of asking, seeking, and knocking at Your door of mercy. May our hearts delight in Your law, and may our hope be rooted in Your goodness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏🏽
MEMORIAL OF SAINT JOHN HENRY NEWMAN, CARDINAL; SAINT DENIS, BISHOP AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS; SAINT JOHN LEONARDI, PRIEST; SAINT LOUIS BERTRAND, PRIEST; AND SAINT DIONYSIUS THE AREOPAGITE, BISHOP, AND HIS COMPANIONS, MARTYRS ~ FEAST DAY: OCTOBER 9TH: Today, the Church commemorates a rich tapestry of saints who, in diverse ways, bore radiant witness to the truth of Christ: Saint John Henry Newman, Cardinal (theologian, convert, and founder of the Oratory in England); Saint Denis, Bishop, and Companions, Martyrs (apostles of France and patrons of Paris); Saint John Leonardi, Priest (reformer and founder of the Clerks Regular of the Mother of God); Saint Louis Bertrand, Priest (Dominican missionary and Apostle to the Americas); and Saint Dionysius the Areopagite, Bishop, and his Companions, Martyrs (early witnesses to the Gospel in Athens and Paris). Their lives reveal how God’s grace works through intellect, courage, missionary zeal, and suffering embraced in faith. Through their intercession, we pray for pastors, missionaries, scholars, and all who labor for the truth. We remember the sick, the dying, and those burdened with suffering, especially the mentally or physically ill and those with terminal diseases. We lift up widows, widowers, the poor, and the neglected. We pray for the souls in Purgatory and the faithful departed. We implore peace in our homes, unity in our families, and harmony in our world. We commend to God our Holy Father, bishops, priests, and religious, and pray for an increase in vocations and the perseverance of all who follow Christ amid persecution. May these saints strengthen our faith and inspire us to live with conviction, compassion, and unwavering hope in the Lord. Amen. 🙏🏾

SAINT JOHN HENRY NEWMAN, CARDINAL: Saint John Henry Newman (1801–1890) was an English theologian, philosopher, and convert whose deep faith and intellect bridged the worlds of Anglicanism and Catholicism. A leading voice in the Oxford Movement, he sought to recover the ancient roots of Christian faith within England. After a profound personal and theological journey, he entered the Catholic Church in 1845 and was later ordained a priest and made a cardinal. Newman’s writings on conscience, faith, and education shaped modern Catholic thought and influenced the Second Vatican Council. His humility, scholarship, and devotion continue to inspire those who seek truth with both heart and reason.
PRAYER: Lord, grant that through the intercession of Saint John Henry Newman, we may seek Your truth with courage and follow it with steadfast love. May our faith be both intelligent and humble, our hearts aflame with Your wisdom. Amen. 🙏🏾
SAINT DENIS, BISHOP, AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS: Saint Denis, sent from Italy to Gaul in the third century, became the first Bishop of Paris and one of the greatest evangelizers of France. With his companions Rusticus and Eleutherius, he preached Christ with such zeal that they were arrested and martyred by beheading. Their courage made Paris a cradle of faith. From their martyrdom rose the Abbey of Saint-Denis, later the burial place of French kings. Denis is honored as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, invoked against plague and spiritual afflictions.
PRAYER: Almighty God, You sent St. Denis and his Companions to proclaim Your glory to the nations and strengthened them with the virtue of constancy in their passion to bear witness to the Gospel even unto death. Grant us steadfast courage to profess Your name in word and deed and help us, after their example, to despite worldly prosperity and adversity. Amen 🙏🏽
SAINT JOHN LEONARDI, PRIEST: Saint John Leonardi (1541–1609) was an Italian priest who founded the Clerks Regular of the Mother of God in Lucca, Italy. Originally trained as a pharmacist, he turned his healing hands toward souls, reforming the Church through catechesis, missionary zeal, and pastoral care. He co-founded what became the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith, shaping the Church’s missionary outreach. His deep love for Christ inspired countless conversions, and his care for the sick during a plague ultimately cost him his life.
PRAYER: Lord, through the intercession of Saint John Leonardi, enkindle in us a missionary spirit that brings Your truth and love to all people. May we be faithful healers of both body and soul. Amen. 🙏🏾
SAINT LOUIS BERTRAND, PRIEST: Saint Louis Bertrand (1526–1581), a Dominican friar from Spain, devoted his life to preaching the Gospel with purity and zeal. Known as the “Apostle of the Americas,” he evangelized in South America, converting many Indigenous peoples and working miracles through God’s grace. His humility, simplicity, and compassion reflected Christ’s love for the poor and forgotten.
PRAYER: Merciful Lord, through the intercession of Saint Louis Bertrand, fill us with apostolic fervor and love for Your people. May we bear witness to Your mercy through our words and actions. Amen. 🙏🏾
SAINT DIONYSIUS THE AREOPAGITE, BISHOP, AND HIS COMPANIONS, MARTYRS: Saint Dionysius the Areopagite was converted by Saint Paul’s preaching in Athens (Acts 17:34) and became the city’s first bishop. Tradition holds that he later traveled west, evangelizing Gaul and becoming associated with Paris, where he and his companions, Rusticus and Eleutherius, were martyred. Dionysius is remembered as a man of learning and faith who united wisdom with holiness, bridging the early Church’s missionary and philosophical traditions.
PRAYER: O God, who called Saint Dionysius and his companions to shed their blood for Christ, grant that we may imitate their fidelity and one day rejoice with them in eternal glory. Amen 🙏🏾

DEVOTION OF THE MONTH OF OCTOBER | MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY: October is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary, a powerful prayer that draws us into the heart of the Gospel through the eyes of Mary. The Rosary is more than repetition, it is a meditation on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, united with the loving presence of His Blessed Mother. As Pope St. John Paul II reminded us, the Rosary is “a compendium of the Gospel,” helping us to contemplate Christ’s face with Mary.
The twenty mysteries of the Rosary, Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, and Luminous, invite us to journey with Christ from His Incarnation to His Passion and His triumph over death. Each mystery opens us to God’s saving love, strengthens our faith, and leads us to imitate the virtues of Jesus and Mary in our daily lives. This month, the Church invites us to renew our devotion to the Rosary by praying it daily, whether alone, in families, or in community. Through it, we find peace in times of trial, strength against temptation, and deeper trust in God’s providence. Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary, intercedes for us and leads us always to her Son.
“O Mary, our Blessed Mother and Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, teach us to pray with a pure heart and a steadfast spirit. As we meditate on the mysteries of Christ, help us to grow in faith, hope, and love. Intercede for us before your Son, that our families, our Church, and our world may be filled with peace and the light of the Gospel. Amen.” 🙏🏽
