Event: Feast of St. Nicholas
Join us on December 6th as we celebrate the Feast of St. Nicholas, the beloved bishop known for his generosity, compassion, and deep faith. St. Nicholas, who lived in the 4th century, is remembered for his selfless acts of charity and his commitment to protecting the vulnerable, especially children and the poor. His life inspired the tradition of gift-giving and the figure of Santa Claus in popular culture.
As a bishop in Myra (modern-day Turkey), St. Nicholas defended the faith during challenging times, including his participation in the Council of Nicaea, where he opposed heretical teachings. His legacy invites us to live lives of service, generosity, and love, following his example of caring for those in need.
Event Highlights:
- Holy Mass: A special Mass will be offered in honor of St. Nicholas, focusing on his role as a shepherd of the Church and a model of Christian charity. The homily will reflect on how we, too, are called to serve others with love and generosity.
- Reflection on Generosity: A brief reflection will be shared on St. Nicholas’s acts of kindness and how his life inspires us to give generously, especially during the Advent season, as a sign of God’s love for all people.
- Blessing for Children: In keeping with St. Nicholas’s special care for children, there will be a blessing for all young people, encouraging them to grow in faith and kindness.
As we celebrate the Feast of St. Nicholas, let us be inspired by his example to share the gifts of love, faith, and generosity with those around us. All are welcome to join in this joyful and meaningful celebration!
